Storming his way back onto Drumcode Luigi Madonna closes off the Summer with a four track smasher that will see him welcome in Autumn with a bang. Each track contains the solid, raw drums that are the backbone to each track Luigi has conjured up. With a brooding undertone, the simplicity found in each track gives the lead lines and ideas more space to breath, which overall creates a unique and charismatic submission that can only be found from the Italian.

Mark Reeve presents his second release on Drumcode, ‘Run Back’, a four track EP crammed with heavy hitting kick drums and his signature big basslines. This is the record of my set in Tresor. Thanks to @estherduijn for inviting me over to this magic place (x)! It was a wonderful night, with lots of good vibes and I felt so connected to the crowd. 

Maybe people are wondering who I am and what I do with all these different music styles.. but in the end, it doesn't really matter and it is OK to find yourself in all these different styles :-). Hopefully you will recognize my taste and catch the story within each set and I hope you enjoy it!

Hot on the heels of the A-Sides Volume 5 compilation, Enrico Sangiuliano makes his return to Drumcode with his highly anticipated EP ‘Moon Rocks’. The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

Coyu and Ramiro Lopez are regular production partners, having released a number of tracks on Coyu’s own Suara in the past, as well as John Digweed’s esteemed Bedrock Records. This latest track on Drumcode further adds to their reputation as a force to be reckoned with. ‘Clap Your Hands’ allows the pair to display their talent for harder-edged techno. Pounding drums, metallic rattling, a tension-filled breakdown and the eponymous distorted vocal sample help to ensure the track fits in perfectly with Drumcode’s high-quality repertoire. Made with the dancefloor in mind, Coyu debuted ‘Clap Your Hands' during his set at Valencia’s Marenostrum Festival, where it received a spectacular reception.

Andrew Hogge is better known to you as Lovefingers and kicks-off our Liner Notes-project with the first mix in our new podcast-series by Red Light Radio & Sonos. But just as every podcast takes you on another journey, every track has its own story. It’s something we personally would love to show you more with this series. We will not only highlight the artist and the mix, but we will also pay attention to the background stories of the songs that are used to give you a full experience. To eventually create something special, we invite our favourite selectors and friends who are close to our hearts to look into their record collection for loads of hidden gems.

We’re starting our ride with a walking music encyclopedia: Lovefingers. The head honcho of ESP Institute is known for his exquisite taste and unique pick of records that you (most of the time) have never heard before. As a teenager, Andrew was introduced to diverse and interesting music through his parents, who collected Surf and R&B (his dad) and Classical (his mother, who was a multi instrumentalist), but it was the drumming in a band that led him to such genres as Punk, Garage and Skate-Rock. While expanding his taste into Soul, Funk and Breaks, Andrew also became obsessed with Psychedelic, Jazz and Kraut records. HIs first DJ gigs reflected his love for beats, and eventually led him into the world, of Disco, House and Techno.

Whilst mostly focusing on the late eighties with this mix, Andrew has turned a lovely journey through a diverse blend of Ambient, Rock, Blues, Disco, World Music and Folk. A full track list, including all the corresponding background stories, can be find below. Andrew was kind enough to give a personal touch to this by sharing his thoughts about some of his picks as well.

Diego Krause is an artist and label owner who was born in Berlin’s eastern districts during the high times of early synthesizer music as created by the likes of Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre. Growing up in the nineties, he witnessed, first-hand, the golden era of hip-hop and spent his formative years as a producer making hip-hop beats before making the transition to house music.

Diego is co-owner of the Beste Modus imprint, with his partners Cinthie, Stevn.aint.leavn and Ed Herbst and he runs with cinthie also, Unison Wax, as an outlet for his own productions. He recently released a killer EP with Apollonia, entitled ‘Right About Now’, and has released original material and remixes on Adult Only, Organic Music and Rough Recordings.

Diego’s sound is influenced by funk and soul, garage, deep house and everything in-between that is both underground and raw. He has taken his sounds all over Europe and beyond – playing at clubs like Watergate and About Blank in his hometown Berlin along with appearances in Lyon, Strasbourg, Paris, Zurich and more… His DJ-sets are powered by driving basslines with a raw nineties texture and techy flourishes, while always retaining a groovy, jacking vibe.

In this talk, Boiler Room's Gabriel @szatan sat down with @wolfgang_voigt to discuss his landmark GAS project – some of the greatest ambient / dub techno / experimental electronic music of all time.

It was recorded live in front of an audience during a Classic Album Sundays session at London's Brilliant Corners, November 2016.

From the dark tones of 1997's "Zauberberg", through to 2000's glistening "Pop", the music Voigt recorded under his GAS moniker remains perhaps his most beloved and influential of a long career. Contemporary geniuses such as Tim Hecker, The Field, Burial, Donato Dozzy, William Basinski and more all carry the GAS hallmarks.
