It all happened pretty quickly for Alessandro and Federico Fognini. In 2011, after years of making music in one form or another, the two brothers formed a new DJ and production duo: Mind Against. Two years later they'd moved from Italy to Berlin and had their first record out on Life and Death (Atlant), with another two in the pipeline (Avalon and Strange Days). By then their DJ careers had taken off and they were playing somewhere in the world every weekend. It seems they made quite an impression on their audiences: last December, they debuted in our annual Top DJs poll all the way up at #33. 

Sometimes it's hard to say exactly why an act breaks through, but not with these guys. From the off, Mind Against had a signature sound that was immersive and completely their own: cosmic, emotionally rich and banging when it needs to be. RA.482 shows us an especially subtle side of their sound, with 58 minutes of techno that gently ebbs and flows. (Resident Advisor)

The Martinez Brothers B2B Seth Troxler Timewarp

Cio Dorbandt is a part of German techno’s furniture. Born in Hannover, she can now be found in Cologne, while over the course of a lengthy career she has stamped her mark on cities across the country, and many other spots further afield. Made a resident at Munich’s infamous Ultraschall in 2001, she had also spent much of her youth pursuing her aspiration to become a dancer in ‘80s Berlin—a place she now frequents for gigs at the likes of Berghain, Tresor, and ://about blank​, following a wave of international recognition in the late ‘00s.

With years of experience behind the decks, studio work came a little later for Dorbandt. Releasing on Prologue, Semantica and more, her sound as Cio D'Or was recognized as central in a wave of minimal, hypnotic techno producers, encompassing characters like Mike Parker, Sleeparchive and Donato Dozzy (with whom she has often worked alongside). More recently, she has turned her attention to a broader spectrum of styles, bouncing between dub and ambient soundscapes, with the focus directed on sound design. Her most recent album, All In All, was some of her most experimental work yet, diving head first into a world of piano composition and cinematic music, as well as the regular dancefloor fodder. Not prepared to confine her talents to record though, she has also orchestrated a choreography project alongside Brigitta Muntendorf entitled PULSA:RE, combining the work of an ensemble with a DJ set—yet another string on her musical bow. D’Or steps up for this week’s podcast, with a dramatic hour long mix of experimental techno sounds that gives a sense of where she is at right now.

He is best known for being a mainstay at Japan's infamous Womb Club, as well as releasing on Nina Kraviz's трип label and his own label, Arpa, amongst many other great projects. He is a master selector,  I really love the music in this show -  I hope you enjoy it!

Always influenced by the sound and drive of electronic music, Jan Underwood published his first international EP in 2012, which was released on the UK based label "Darker Sounds". In the following year 2013 his track "Souls Siren" was released on the French label "heavy snatch records", which was supported and played by artists like Niereich. First international radio shows, on the canadian based label D.M.T Records followed in the year 2014. With the publication of his work "Subroom" on the prestigious german Techno label "Wall Music" in 2015, Jan Underwood entered the scene gravitating around the label head Mike Walls. In the same year, he played with artists such as Alex Bau, Hans Bouffmyhre, Secluded, WLDRZ, Robert S (PT) at the UK radio show "Death Techno". In 2015 he published  the Blech EP, which had great support of artists like Richie Hawtin, L.A.W and Joseph Capriati, on the Argentina based label "Concepto Hipnotico". In 2016 Jan released the Rotor EP on the Cologne based label "uncut records” which also led to a number of shows in Germany. 2016 also saw Jan appearing on podcast and radio shows at labels such "Vitaminbedarf" (Hamburg), "Divinity" (USA) and "Type III" (USA) with artists like Samuel L Session, Kerstin Eden, Björn Torwellen, RVDE, Silentcell, Forest People or Guidewire. In 2017 Jan published his KSW1 EP, on the label “DSR digital” owned by David Temessi and appeared on  podcast shows at the Berlin-based label defaultbox, or the London based "the Poeticast", with artists like Krenzlin, subjected, Electric Rescue, Pulse One, Kevin de Vries or Peja followed in the same year. The techno year 2018 begins with the "T Sessions" label podcast and a remix of on the Advanced Human operated label "Elektrax".
