DSH 026 @ Ida Radio - 22.03.02.

K² is a music addict and 1990’s rave scene survivor from Oslo who occasionally DJ's. A vinyl freak for over two decades, his ever-growing record collection includes a little bit of everything – from ambient to deep house, acid and hardcore. And techno – lots of it. This mix explores the deep, driving, hypnotic side of his favourite genre, where current  “drone techno” stalwarts such as Milton Bradley and Giorgio Gigli nestle snugly alongside oldschool heroes like Orlando Voorn and Robert Leiner. One of the intentions was to bridge the past and the present: The oldest track is from 1992, the newest is from this year. 

K²’s favourite track of all time is “Elektra” by The Source Experience. The first record he bought was a Knutsen & Ludvigsen LP (apologies to non-Norwegians). He’s written a few hundred record reviews and compiled a techno CD with some friends to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Oslo’s oldest squat (Blitz) . He gets misty-eyed at the sight of abandoned warehouses and disused industrial sites. His motto is borrowed from Max Duley and goes like this: "Raving is a way of life. In fact, I'm raving right now. I'm going to bed soon and I'm gonna rave there too." If you like this mix, you may buy him a beer. Or a copy of “Uncharted”.

MNMT Label Showcase presents Northallsen Records mixed by Aleja Sanchez (@djalejasanchez)

Northallsen Records is an electronic music label founded in Bogotá, Colombia in 2016 by Aleja Sanchez.

The label's sound embraces the realms of hypnotism and explores the fusion between organic soundscapes, experimental and acoustic elements, with the powerful load of techno music, revealing a sonic narrative that flows between the mysticism of ancestral cultures and the spiritual power of nature.

In order to build the concept, far away from trying to emulate a sound, the label curation is focused on artists with their own identity and particular voice, with a foundation into their musical and artistic proposals. Recent releases have featured the likes of Oscar Mulero, Deepbass, Reggy van Oers, Magna Pia, Polygonia, Tekra, !nertia, Psyk, Laertes, Iori and founder Aleja Sanchez.

The label is intended to keep and highlight the deepness and beauty of techno and electronic music since Northallsen considers music as a tool to help bring harmony and peace in the middle of the tragic war-related situation we all are facing currently around the world.

DASCO is a hurricane force with recent roots in Berlin, active for the past decade and packing as strong a punch today as she ever has. That’s as true of her music as it is her persona. As DJ, she draws from the wells of Chicago house and UR, as much as 90s UK rave: dispatching rhythms from the booths at Tresor, Panorama Bar, RSO, Bristol’s Motion and many more. As producer, she’s released records on the likes of Shall Not Fade and pushed her own vision via her recently launched Bisexuality Exists imprint (2022). Catchy name and it serves a purpose. Through her music, DASCO wants to lift people up, that includes people like herself who identify as bisexual and see a frequent tendency towards bi erasure: ‘With the label, I would like to show the world that music - like life - is rarely ever black or white.’ The label’s first release was the acid influenced Get High With Me, featuring her own vocals and a slew of punchy 90s beats - an attempt to bottle the feeling of dancefloor rapture that washes over a crowd every time she plays. She’s here again spreading love and positive vibes for Bassiani Podcast 201. Mic Meimaroglou's passion for electronic music began at a young age, sparked by his fascination with the synthesizer's analog sound. As he delved deeper into the art of music production, he discovered that synthesizing and mixing sounds provided him with a creative outlet for self-expression.

As a resident DJ in small bars, Michael's experimentation with various music genres expanded his knowledge and technique in mixing. In 2010, he released his first music demo under the alias "Aithale," which showcased his unique blend of electronica and techno elements.

In 2013 and 2014, Michael curated the electronic music program for the "Beach Street Festival," featuring both Greek and international artists. These experiences culminated in a milestone year for Michael in 2014, as he released his first music on 808 Recordings, Ntrop Recordings, and joined the music roster of Affect Recordings Munich. He also released on DMR Digital Italy.

In 2017, Michael launched USM Recordings with the goal of supporting the Greek contemporary electronic music scene. His music releases have been featured on various Greek and international media platforms, including BeatSelector, 5 Magazine, Electronic Groove, The Letter, mic.gr, and beater.gr.

In 2023, Michael co-founded ΣΥΝTHESIS, an electronic music artist collective platform based in Lesvos island, to inspire and expand electronic music around the island and beyond through events, workshops, conferences and screenings.

Michael's DJ performances are characterized by ambient and hypnotic techno patterns, with the flow of his sets influenced strongly by the crowd's mood and the sound elements that he follows.

Vera Logdanidi's journey in the music industry began as a DJ in Kyiv, Ukraine during the mid-2000s. Since then, she has made significant strides as a producer, with her music finding a home on esteemed labels such as Rhythm Büro, Semantica Records, On Board Music, Dial Records, Corridor Audio and Secuencias Temporales. Her solo and collaborative tracks have received remix treatments from artists including Eric Cloutier, Artefakt, and Svreca. Moreover, her experiments in collaborations have led to joint live performances with Ukrainian producer Na Nich.
Apart of producing her own music, Vera frequently tours both domestically and internationally. Her wide range of music allows her to express her vision to both small and large crowds. Her sets have reverberated through iconic venues including Bassiani, Panorama Bar, Tresor, Closer, ∄ and other venues. Her name frequently graces the lineups of esteemed festivals, including Monument Festival, Ickra, Strichka, Brave Factory Festival, Up To Date Festival and many others. These diverse platforms have provided her the freedom to show different musical styles, ranging from powerful, groovy or mental techno to experiments with music on the verge of house, ambient and occasionally delve into jungle, which holds a special place in her musical journey. Aside from producing and touring she is co-running Rhythm Büro events. One of the most unique events produced by Rhythm Büro is the Natura festival, which takes place once a year in a remote location outside Ukraine’s capital. Despite the event's secrecy, remoteness, and limited promotion, Natura attracts over 4,000 guests each year, with early-bird tickets selling out within the first hour of the event's announcement.
