Hailing from Portsmouth, UK, Rich Jones alias Operator champions a techno sound that, although purist-compatible, doesn’t cut itself from the wide array of sounds that’s fed the genre for over 30 something years of its existence. This week’s mix from the British jockey and producer, who's amassed a string of reputable sorties on the likes of MORD, Blue Hour, CLR, Soma and his own imprint, Gnosis, gets us vibing to a cross-curricular two hours of funk-charged salvos, high-powered 909 moves and further Detroit house-y divagations that make the most out of each bar to send shivers down your spine. Alex Tomb isn't just an over-20years-practicing Dj/(Later on, producer, on Several Reasons & Capparis Spinosa - his own label - amongst others) and a techno figure in his homeland (Cyprus): he's been keeping on pushing to generate quality and  enthusiasm around techno music since his returning. As such he naturally took part to the quite recent Emotions festival, located in the "Angel’s Hills Resort" in Nicosia; a gathering of both local & International ambitions, that has reunited names such as Dasha Rush, Amandra, F-On.. as well as emerging artists.

Thankful & super pleased to get this opportunity focusing/shedding light on his work (the excerpt isn't to find anywhere else and was recorded last June). Alex not only shows us there's other horizons beyond Berlin and his various  [past] residencies @[Griessmüehle/KLUBD/] STAUB (<-- still active), but his unextinguished passion for the craft. This >>Techno<< set excerpt ranges from minimal influences, techno with powerful beats, to more subtle, soulful, psy playfulness - as well as melodic bits, where spontaneity and honoring detroit/housey vibes has its spot. More resonates as an invitation to let go & dancing in the joy of present moment, leaving spaces here and there to rest and look upwards. I am a musician specializing in minimal techno style, as well as an active DJ exploring various musical directions. My creativity is based on creating rhythmic collages of looping sounds and textures that create a hypnotic atmosphere. I also collect sounds from real life to incorporate into my music, giving it a unique and original feel.

My approach to minimal techno includes both live performance, using a computer and various instruments, and playing as a DJ, mixing recorded tracks and experimenting with tempo and keys. I am also passionate about various forms of techno, including light and atmospheric forms as well as darker and industrial manifestations.

But what do I want to say about techno? What did I understand about this musical phenomenon? Why does it attract my attention so much, what do I find in it? For me personally, Techno is a kind of moving sound structure; it has a special effect on the psyche and perception of a person, especially at high volume. It seems to crowd out other thoughts, drown them out, or make you think not about your problems or routine and something familiar, but about this incomprehensible, constantly changing carpet of sound that seems to be static.

So we can say that techno is a powerful irritant that our psyche wants to grab onto, wants as if it were something permanent, wants to unravel, because there are so many identical patterns, such clear and simple rhythms, but something always slips out of sight, the feeling that you are in the theater and something happens behind the scenes, before it ends, a new skyscraper has appeared in its place, a new construction site, skilled builders are already hammering in a new part with their ringing hammers, you get the feeling that you have understood the rhythm or emotional message, but then new ones appear elements and everything need to be understood anew... and again you are fooled by skillful and cunning jugglers, traveling clowns in the city square. Techno hypnotizes me so much, it’s a new technological mysticism! Hey, what gods are we praying to this time?...

In this first episode of the Deep Space Series we present to you, the Italian based Ness!

His pure, mind shifting sound is exactly the direction we want to go in on this new podcast platform. 

Ness has worked with labels like Phorma (Sweden), Synewave (USA), Dynamic Reflection (The Netherlands), M_Rec Ltd. (Italy), Informa (UK), Prologue (Germany), etc. and collaborated with artists like Claudio PRC half member of The Gods Planet, Deepbass, Attemporal, Rasmus Hedlund, etc. 

Currently he is running TGP - an independent platform established since 2010 with Claudio PRC.

Ness his sound can be defined as an exploration of wide range of deep and hypnotic techno and ambient soundscapes.

We are extremely excited that we have Belgium's best kept secret on our series. This man creates pure space, his productions on testtoon records and other imprints are always on point.

Subsequently shifting from atmosphere, contrast and sources, the signals produce a stream of events from a parallel world that invites as much as it challenges.

The third element of the series is by Hydrangea aka Horty Shooter. Expect a deep and warm musical experience.

Hydrangea is a new French electronic producer, doing techno music deeply inspired by nature and its surroundings. She began producing music in early 2014, influenced mainly by the deep and hypnotic Italian techno.

Besides being constantly preoccupied in reshaping her sound and developing new ways of expression through music, she's also a graphic designer and photographer under the alias Horty Shooter, managing the artworks for different music releases and graphic art projects.

Zusammen mit Dycide und MTRL gründete sie das Label IO.
Dort bieten sie einen exzellenten Katalog mit  EP's und Sets von hochwertigen Künstlern an, die sich im Ambient hypnotischen gefielden zuhause fühlen.

Mit diesem Set schickt Polygonia uns die richtige Portion positive Energie und bringt die richtigen vibes für die kommenden Monate.

is a versatile art and Music project based in Munich, Germany.
Her preceding intensive and long practice playing several instruments as well as the experiences with other art forms, inspired the
artist to translate her understanding of rhythm, composition and experimentalism into the digital Musical language.
She creates mystic, deep and experimental soundscapes with acoustic elements in it.
Together with Dycide and MTRL she founded the Ambient and Deep Techno Label IO.
