Beautiful offering for #116 from the depths of France, Javier Salazar (@salazarconnect). I originally discovered their music via a beautiful set at the @monument-podcast festival afterparty on a beautiful farm in Norway. I was completely entranced by their percussive, groovy style. 

Founders of @rdgtribe, they recently put out a beautiful release on the output - somehow both soothing and driving. This mix is a beautiful continuation of that style. Relaxing, hypnotic and bouncy all at once.

Animix One Hundred & Sixteen: Javier Salazar

For the fourth installment of our mix series, we are pleased to present a live recording of Sunju Hargun's set at a recent edition in Tokyo. As an artist, Sunju is well known for his output through his Siamese Twin records, which he co-runs and effectively put Southeast Asia (back) on the global musical map. Noted as a skilled DJ and producer who floats between new interpretations of classic trance, deep techno, local traditional music, and re-imagining Goa music, he is equally apt at exploring ambient. In this recording, he shares his takes on contemporary ambient music, leaning on his productions, traditional music from his home region, and more modern ambient and experimental explorations. Expect a journey across musical heritages and genres, delivering a mix that presents a unique fusion of diverse geographical music styles, rhythms, and historic tunes.

As we enter the midsummer-solstice season, I wanted to share this recording from a glorious sunny morning last year, now archived on Deep Mind Music ☀️

This is the set I played 8-10AM on Sunday at @comebyefestival in Wales for @umbilicalchords, in their cosy fuchsia~draped ambient dome.

Playing ambient in the early hours of a festival is always really special for me, as everyone’s minds are open and unwound, the gentle caress of nature is all around, and it feels the best backdrop for swirling into imaginal worlds 🌿

Hope you enjoy this wistful meander through tall breezy grasses, golden sunshine, and drifting clouds ~ a mix for daydreaming, nature-wandering, tea-drinking, sunbathing 🧡🌞🌾

Jane Fitz, one of rural regulars and a staple of its history, took the stage for two B2B sets on both stages this year.

Jane's choice to share a booth with AKIRAM EN, also a regular at rural, on the first day of the event brought together a large crowd of music lovers for a rare B2B experience that lasted four hours of deep groove sessions from late into the night until dawn. Enjoy this obscure mix set, that the two skilled selectors who have been described as “DJ's  DJ” have produced.

DSS 092 is one that has been brewing for a long time. We finally got our hands on a Kuba'97 masterclass.

Ever in search of the trance dance experience, Kuba '97 turns crowds into tribes with deep hypnotic sounds. Energy flows in and out of bodies, with frequencies encouraging introspection and a communal sense on the dance floor.

The trance dance experience is characterised by the sounds of contemporary psychedelics and '90s tribal techno. Never ending spiralling grooves framed by dreamy shamanic chimes.

About his set, Kobe tells us:
“Music spanning over five decades and gathered in one. This podcast is dedicated to a number of people and places that I’ve had the chance to connect with over the years. It ranges from ‘70 Japanese library recordings to contemporary deep techno cuts all adding to the spirit of Deep Space Series. The first conversations about this podcast started over two years ago and slowly the idea began to take shape. Just like the process, the recording is far from rushed and grows step by step.“

Ever since his first visit to Olganitz, So (@satoshiaoyagi) has been a close friend of the Nachti family - joining us for some of our club dates as well as, of course, for the last edition of our beloved summer celebration. After opening our Open Air Stage on Friday, we also asked him to play a second set on our Ambient Stage on Saturday - and he did it with just so much elegance and grace as we know from his dancefloor sets.
