You & Me (feat. Eleonora)

We are more than happy to welcome the German DJ and producer Lexer to Oddity, with his “Focus” EP making his debut on the label, accompanied by a remix from fellow native Jonas Saalbach.

Known for his ability to story-tell with his melodic productions, Lexer opens the EP with the track “Focus”. A track with a lot of groove and emotion that combines the best of both worlds, giving us a melodic piece full of energy, catchy chords and melodies.

On the remix duties, Jonas Saalbach, reworks “Focus” with a more aggressive and haunting touch. Adding new textures, drums and synths that play along with the original parts, making an alternative mix for the late hours of the night.

“The Sky Is Red” follows on the EP, a beautiful interplay of melodies and textures that follow each other throughout the slowly building track. Arp and synths play along to keep the interest and intensity growing on this melodic cut.

Last but not least, “Suffer” the deeper cut of the pack, drives us slowly with his groove and textures to the main hook of the track. When we get to the drop, all the emotions comes together with a heavy bass, and triad metallic synths, playing along a continuous arp and percussion, that creates the perfect weapon for the dance floor.

Focus EP

For the second release of 2022, it’s time to welcome the Argentinian MUNSE (@munse_ofc) back on the label. His ‘Lament Of A Goddess’ EP consists of four conceptual and storytelling originals, accompanied by an electronic classical intro and outro, which were part of the prologue. With his movie production background, these tracks are almost forming its own genre, that could also be seen as cinematic melodic techno. That’s why the collection feels like it’s taking place in its own world.

The intro track is called ‘Crystal Storm’, which is an impressive electronic classical ambient track and immediately shows the great composing skills of MUNSE.

The second track track is called ‘Zea’. It slowly introduces the cinematic feel of the EP, but as the first break passes, the fierce atmosphere comes through. Throughout the track, unexpected elements are popping up. Something which will happen in the next tracks too. Towards the end of the track, the main lead gets accompanied by an extra layer, creating a very high intensity.

The title track ‘Lament Of A Goddess’ starts off a bit deeper. This track is characterized by its bombastic vocal chords and unexpected heavy stabs, resulting in powerful peak moments. Between these obvious parts, a smooth high pitched and iterating organ is finding its way through. Even in the final break, unforeseen additions are brought to light. 

Surrounded by already uncommon basslines, ‘Sierra’ is sticking out. Its harsh bassline switches after the intro, which is forming a great drive together with the fast percussion. On top of this drive a repeating melody brings a rising tension. This tension gets broken down by a more peaceful break, after which a tremendous drop follows.

The second-last track is called ‘Tears Within Souls’. The combination of short synths, percussion and bassline gives this track another energy. Nevertheless, the breaks are probably the most cinematic and colossal of the whole EP. Also, an impressive hovering synth is floating throughout the composition. 

The outro ‘Zelena’ brings an end to the story of this beautiful EP. A story which couldn’t be told in a more musical and vivid way, than MUNSE did with his EP.

Melkweg [8MUSIC]

“Render”, an atmospheric banger in which the delicate arpeggio’s keep pushing you forward. The shimmering lead gives this track a very unique soundscape. The break really pulls you in deep, only to drop you right back into the action at the climax.

D-Nox & Beckers return home to the ever reliable Sprout imprint, with a fine gem entitled 'Reception'. The boys have soldiered through this turbulent year, as individuals, as a duo and also under various other collaborations, while always keeping the music flowing, and looking forward to better days that will return to us, hopefully sooner rather than later. The track itself is a melodic monster, dramatic and energetic, yet sophisticated and oozing of quality (of course). Hypnotic and vaguely familiar, yet fresh and ready for 2021, Reception is ready when you are. A whole host of remixes are delivered, and first up step Hasith, who deliver a mesmerising re-tweak, quite true to the original, but with a chunkier kick and a dramatic flavour. Pedro Skull picks up the pace and utilises the key changes throughout, and adds additional energy. Solid. We go deeper and and strip things back for Saskia's remix, adding an ethereal vibe. Toby Emerson rounds off the package with a light airy approach, that also brings in some dirt.

With the world locked down, we decided to unlock our vault of hidden gems. Deep and warm tunes to deliver the heat in these cold months. 

Ata Ates kicks things off with Invisible Connection. Intricate call and response melodies, synth stabs and luscious chords are able to push the envelope of the Pursuit sound. 

Our duo Bob Tosh and Be Saint deliver to us Poetica. A jarring melody which keeps skipping and hopping, keeping you guessing where this wordless hymn moves to. 

Subgate & Joey White deliver us Astral, which could accompany a space opera with its melancholic sounds and white noise perc hits. 

Friend of the family 2088 returns once again with Connection, showcasing how he is moving from strength to strength on Pursuit. 

Siva Prayojan closes the VA with We Need Us, an ethnic Mediterranean fueled composition, leaving us longing for when the sun goes down.
