Ambient Sessions

Welcome to the 1th chapter of the Ambient Sessions presented by Deep Electronics. This is the very first podcast to explore the realms of Ambient music. The first producer is Cryobiosis! Enjoy a journey into the spherical sounds and field recording dwelling in textures. Sometimes dark but always with a touch of brightness. Sit back and enjoy!!

Bio:

  Cryobiosis is an ambient project from Cluj, Romania created by Cristian Voicu. The project attempts to paint with sound the environment and feelings that surround a man who awakens in a harsh and frigid post-apocalyptic world. Industrial ruins spread before his eyes while strange voices and distant signals echo through the dark mist. As he begins to discover the remnants of the old world, past memories of atrocities and terrible wars unfold inside his shattered memory.The music generally consists of haunting pads blended with field recordings, piano melodies and subtle rhythms. A lot of care has been put in the details and quality of the tracks.

   The first Cryobiosis album, “From the Depths” has been released in August 2012. In the fall of 2012, Cryobiosis became a part of the Cryo Chamber label and contributed a song, “Departure” to the label’s first compilation, “Behind The Canvas Of Time”. The second Cryobiosis album, titled “Within Ruins” was released in 2013 on Cryo Chamber and was well received by critics and listeners. "Inner Stasis" was released in July 2014 on Cryo Chamber, continuing and completing the bleak story from the previous albums.

Meeting up on the Interwebz somewhere in '98, a mutual love for drum 'n' bass was the foundation for a great friendship and a musical alliance in multiple genres. After hosting radioshows and DJ'ing for years, Cyance is currently producing and remixing tracks for labels like Mindtrick and Touched. Southern Depot has never lost and will never lose his love for drums, but a new passion for quite the opposite in the musical spectrum surfaced some years back for the both of them: ambient music from light to dark. Together, Cyance and Southern Depot create their 'Aerial Views' ambient mixes.

Darren Harper (b.1970) is an experimental/ambient sound artist residing high within the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Drawing from both electronic and acoustic sources, his compositional output is based entirely on experimentation and improvisation, with a strong emphasis on minimalism, and often reflects a desire for a greater understanding of nature and self, and the relationship therein…

Ambient Sessions # 04 - Darren Harper

Welcome to the 5th chapter of the Ambient Sessions presented by Deep Electronics. MIxed by Apobothra from Moscow, Russia.

Bio:

Aleksei Klimkin (Apobothra) is a Moscow based electronic music producer who has been inspired by such musicians as The Future Sound of London, Autechre, Biosphere, Brian Eno, Basic Channel / Rhythm & Sound, DeepChord / Echospace, ASC / Mindpsan, bvdub, Fluxion, Quantec, Fingers In The Noise and others. Starting with drum&bass in 2006 his tastes have gradually shifted to deeper electronic music such as dub techno, deep techno and ambient. Many of his tracks have been supported by some big names on the scene. His first release with Apobothra alias was released on Spaceal Orbeats label in the end of 2013 and simultaneously became his first album. It is called ‘In Search for an Explanation’ and the production style there is based on author’s intoxication by science and particularly by astrophysics.
In real life "Apobothra" is an astronomical term whose meaning is quite similar to "Apogee", but while Apogee is the point of greatest distance between the Earth and its orbiting object, Apobothra is the furthermost point on the Black Hole orbit.

Happy 13th anniversary Feed The Raver! 🥳 Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I was going to be DJing and producing music for 13 years and also curating a podcast for this long that was born and created with the purest intentions of helping, sharing and feature some of my favorite artists and their music. Connecting with so many people around the world has been extremely rewarding and magical. I’ve been always a music nerd, I started raving also when I was 13 even 🤣 so this celebration feels extra special. I have survived everything so far, so many podcast have come and gone and I’m still here dancing, discovering new artists and using music as my main connection to the universe and the divine ✨😌✨. I think I’ve decided I’m going to continue this journey until my last day in this world so hopefully one day I’ll be a grandma announcing  a 100th anniversary badass Feed The Raver episode and funny enough I’m sure this music will still be as relevant as it can be because sounds like these will remain true gems forever ✨🙌✨

On this special episode I'm excited to welcome back Monosphere (Jeroen Smulders), founder of the amazing label an podcast Deep Electronics. This is the second time he records an anniversary episode for FTR and I'm so happy to share this beautiful set with all of you. His label Deep Electronics is simply one of the best out there for these epic sounds so please check out all the releases. Bio

Yu Kawabata is a techno based DJ from an ancient city in Japan. She started working in 1998 and has played at many clubs in Western Japan.
Yu Kawabata played in Russia in ARMA and Monasterio (Moscow), and shared the scene with artists as Milton Bradley, Yuka, Shapednoise, Rrose, Nina Kraviz etc.

"About our live hybrid set
We conceived our performance with storytelling practices in mind, starting with the idea of creating an atmosphere from which we developed our musical narration. You can hear this aspect at the beginning of our hybrid set, where the combination of ambient/dub sounds and field recordings aims to create an introductory and more neutral soundscape. After this kind of incubating phase, we embarked on our musical journey, merging more dramatic vibes with warm, meditative sounds. From there, we gradually introduced rhythmic patterns, with some tribalistic touches, to increase the energy and reach the climax in the final phase, culminating in a special drone dedication to Laurie Anderson.

It felt really being like home playing at Temple #8 (@espacio-perpendicular), such a warm atmosphere and lovely people! The feeling of appreciation and involvement left us with some amazing memories!"

melondruie may or may not be a mostly docile yeti living in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, making ambient/electronic music, putting together mixtapes, and occasionally venturing to the edges of civilization to share the results with humans of discerning taste. if you listen closely on cold, damp autumn nights, you can hear a low bass rumble emanating from the nearby woods along with the howls of the forest animals voicing their approval.
