Sydney-based artist Alexandra Spence joins the Theory Therapy duo for a guest mix in the second half of this month's show. Her new album, "A Necessary Softness", is out April 16 on Room40. The show features tracks from the forthcoming Butter Sessions comp, the new c- and Lillerne collab and Best Effort's latest release.

There was not any movement, not a voice in the city...It seemed that all the inhabitants stood silently at the windows and listened to the quiet voice of the old man...This thought comforted and relieved me from the fear of death before I had time to tell this mnemonic story...My narration becomes a sacred act, a rite of passage lost in the fog of time...

Many, many years ago, mountain people lived on these lands, created from solid earth...They called themselves S'ard, which in ancient language meant "dancers from the stars", or those who knew how to get answers by looking at the sky...There is nothing more orderly and perfect, more unmotivated and mysterious than the stellar vault, which they studied every night, plunging into calculations of distances, orbits, and cycles of development of celestial bodies...These studies distracted people from false confidence in the size of the scale of the individual, showing, that all living beings, only the smallest, but not replaceable grains of this creation...These were peaceful and cultured people, they danced and sang...Their life was filled with joy...

But their idyll and persecuted by tribes from the East did not last long, they had to leave their native lands and after many months in the open ocean, they landed on a beautiful unnamed island - the utopia of a lost Eden...

We passed over the earth as light as water that flows, jumps, down from the full basin of the source, slides, and meanders among mosses and ferns, to the roots of cork oaks and almond trees or falls by sliding on stones, for the mountains and hills up to the plain, from the streams to the river, to slow down towards the marshes and the sea, called in steam by the sun to become a cloud dominated by the winds and blessed rain...It was not easy to get used to the new reality, but the choice was already made and gradually, one by one, small houses began to be built...Life began anew...

Being on this island began to imperceptibly influence them and over time, their ancient knowledge began to be erased and modified from their memory, their thinking was distorted, generation after generation, the growth and shape of bodies were deformed, and the beliefs and customs themselves followed these changes...

High tide, low tide...People pass, conquer, build, destroy, pray, laugh, cry, are born, die ... In this turmoil - the eternal choice ''right or wrong'', so rarely can you find a pause to try to understand this vector of movement, but instead this, alone, somewhere on the island, they suffered because the stars no longer spoke to them...

Perhaps we can say that they were happy, except for the recklessness of killing each other for insignificant reasons...

Ambient can reach this kind of techno in his opinion. He played an all night long ambient set in the second room of KALT (a famously underground club in France) and he had to keep people on the dancefloor and this kind of ambient techno did the work. People were just flying in the dancefloor. Rhythmical ambient music can be moving people without losing it's power in the relaxation that ambient can give.

At this moment the coronavirus is spreading around the world. Please be safe, keep listening, be positive, watch over eachother. We will beat this!

Ambient Sessions # 67 - Medulla Oblongata

Hey folks, here’s the first trip of the year 2021. Today let’s welcome Nicolás Navarro in our constellation. 

Based in Buenos Aires, he lived several years in Bariloche, in Patagonia .He started his event of art and electronic music called “La Galería” and shared the decks with artists like Madloch, Kevin Di Serna, Simón Vuarambon, Facundo Mohrr, Juan Hansen, Mariano Mellino and many others.
His first EP received support from Hernán Cattaneo, who included the EP in his own radio show “Resident 358”. His style is distinguished by deep sounds, full of powerful basses and hypnotic melodies creating a harmonious trip to a place where music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it’s impossible to be silent, opening sound portals beyond space and time.

Bio:
Ocean in a Bottle is the solo ambient and drone project from Manchester (UK) based Andy N. 
Ocean in a Bottle was started in 2015, and since 2019 has being following a solitary, imaginary mostly instrumental journey mostly through Space using a mixture of ice sound, vocals and frozen ambient to take the listener through a journey that is unseen before in Space.

Ocean in a Bottle has had releases on labels such Ambient Online, Slightly Off Kilter, Off Records, Persitent Vegetative Records, Silber Media, HICC and Xylem among others.

Andy N is also a poet with four length poetry collections to his name, the most recent being 'The Streets were all we could see' and with his partner Amanda Steel 'The lockdown was all we could see'. 

He also is the host / co host of Podcasts such as Spoken Label, Reading in Bed, Comics Unity, Koll Andy N and Amanda, Wrestle Up and From Inner Room to Outer Space as well as doing a regular column for the Sunday Tribune.
