I ate a handful of those mushrooms that turn me into a "Fungi"I've been doing that regularly since the Bow & Arrow were TOP SECRET weapons. This is the type of set I want to hear. I Think my neighbours are pounding on the front door. Or maybe  its just the beats. I really cannot be sure of ANYTHING. And I am just a happy  as shit sticking to a sneaker with THAT. The music on offer is richly textured, and though techno's thundering pulse plays a major role in the proceedings, Fengler also finds time to flirt with various house tropes and explore both darkly dubby and brightly melodic passages. Beyond that, the whole thing has been expertly mixed, which comes as little surprise given the man's impressive pedigree.

Heiko Laux - Fernweh Mix

Petrichor makes a welcome return to Soma as he builds toward the release of his debut album Mångata with his first single of 2015, State Function. The Glasgow based artist has been working tirelessly in the studio this last while and with State Function & Amor Fati, he drops two epics cuts displaying dextrous studio ability. 

Title track State Function is straight up dance floor material with added Petrichor twist. A fairly boisterous track, Petrichor really breathes life into it as pulsing, sequenced synths become the body, culminating with a gentle drop back into stylistic sci-fi keys all the while retaining a solid background.

Petrichor's production and real musical ability come into their own on Amor Fati. Subtly oscillating pulses resonate across sub tones and he teases out each element of the track, adding to the tension. Through the ever evolving swell, Amor Fati quickly becomes real powerhouse as thrashing hi hats shake the foundations and live manipulation of the tripped out patterns give a vitality only this track can provide. 

A Petrichor album has been something we at SomaHQ have been yearning for and this single only whets our whistle that little bit more.

Welcome to the 39th chapter of the Deep Consequences Podcast. This podcast is a collaboration with Deep Electronics from The Netherlands and Truth or Consequences from Italy. Bringing you the best music from the underground. This months set is mixed by Angel.

Bio:

ANGEL is a French artist who began DJing and promoting events in London in 2012. The British capital is the starting point of her musical career. After living 7 years in London, she continued her journey exploring deeper minimal sounds in Berlin and released her first track “Moons & Stars” (2016). Later she moved to Asia and while between Bali and Tokyo, ANGEL released a new experimental techno EP on Aethee Records (2017) and performed as a DJ in Jenja (Bali) and Vent (Tokyo). It was in Japan that she found the deep and hypnotic techno she had been searching for. After some time back home in Paris, ANGEL is now releasing a new EP “Hellish Paradise” (2019) on Systolic Records. Her work is influenced by artists and labels such as Attic Music, Affin, Hypnus Records, Ostgut Ton, and Systolic which are aligned with her love for the deeper sides of techno. ANGEL is also a music journalist writing regularly for DJ Tech Tools and Magnetic in the USA and  for BPM Supreme. interviewing international artists and personalities of the DJ world.

Edouard Von Shaeke (@edouardvonshaeke) has been an electronic music selector for years. Starting in the 2000’s, he has played with numerous artists of the electronics and deep house scene over the course of his career, has toured a lot in France, Réunion, Japan and shared line ups with names like Jeff Mills, Len Faki, Rodriguez Jr, Popof, to name a few. He's currently resident of DI.FM (every Sunday at 1PM), Deeper Shades Of House and Ness Radio (back in September 2020).
