Inland (real name Ed Davenport) is a British producer, DJ and founder of Counterchange Recordings based in Berlin. Known for his detailed and explorative techno, he’s released numerous EPs on his home label Counterchange (set up in 2013), and has appeared on Ostgut Ton, Figure, Infrastructure and Nonplus. In 2018 he released his debut Inland LP on Ostgut Ton sub-label A-TON, an Audio-Visual collaboration with conceptual artist Julian Charrière.
Enamoured with UK dance music culture in the mid 90s, the burning, illicit energy of early rave mixtapes left a huge impression. Mystical bootlegs recorded at mass gatherings in fields or late night Radio One transmissions captured on cassette – their eternal spirit was absorbed and cherished. Now more than 2 decades later, Davenport Channels that fascination and energy into everything he works on, from his own studio productions, to live shows and DJ sets, and the creative curation of Counterchange.

Davenport’s first wave of productions emerged in 2006, characterised by a string of technoid minimal house records on German labels Gumption and Liebe*Detail. That sound morphed into a moody, broken-beat hybrid that peaked with key releases such as ‘More Red Lights’ on UK label NRK in 2011 and his ‘Counterchange’ LP as Ed Davenport the following year. His modernist, minimal-music indebted releases on Maeve (‘Silver Walks’ EP, 2015, ‘Mendocino’, 2018) highlighted his unique skill for storytelling within sound.

Working closely alongside US artist Function between 2014 and 2017, the pair released the comeback record for Function’s classic Infrastucture label, with their critically acclaimed ‘Odeon / Rhyl’ EP and went on to compile the heavyweight ‘Facticity’ compilation, also teaming up with the timeless ‘Colwyn Bay’ in 2016.

Simultaneously, since 2013, Davenport’s own Counterchange label has notched up over 13 releases – the idiosyncratic ‘Solstice’ EP (2013) a blueprint for the Inland sound. Primarily a home for his own productions, the label has also put out music from contemporaries like Boddika, BNJMN, Cassegrain & Tin Man, Magna Pia, Distant Echoes and Pharaoh & Yogg.

In February 2020 Inland released the Stream State compilation, his biggest project to date, combining exclusive tracks from over 20 artists in a vibrant 4 x 12’’ package and DJ mix on Counterchange. Featuring long-time colleagues and personal heroes like Efdemin, DJ Skull, Joel Mull, Peter Van Hoesen, Mark Broom and many more, Ed also selected tracks from Berlin based artists Jamaica Suk, Johanna Knutsson and Fred Mann, and welcomed back BNJMN, P. Lopez and Distant Echoes to the label. The compilation was launched with release parties at FOLD London in collaboration with Codeword, Nitsa Barcelona, Vurt Seoul, Contact Tokyo and more, before the 2020 pandemic put an extensive tour to a halt.

A collaboration with Swiss artist Julian Charrière, the debut Inland LP ‘An Invitation To Disappear’ (A-TON LP 05, 2018) translates Davenport’s soundtrack for Charrière’s gallery-based video installation into eight tracks of rhythmically intricate electronics and spectral techno. Tracking through a palm oil plantation toward a totemic soundsystem on full blast, the LP and Film were debuted live to a full house at Berghain in September 2018.

Burials voice processing was a reference while working on 'So Nigh'. So was the ghost voice in Shriekback's 'Evaporation' for our track 'When Does Ghosting End'. The Wailers Band's 'Higher Field Marshall Dub' highlights the influence of reggae on some of the album tracks. We love the distorted sound and masterful minimalism of this track." - @mmm-berlin

Bleep Mix #215 - MMM

DJ @Boris is kind of a charismatic, multifunctional weapon in the Berlin club life. His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when he lived in New York for four years where he absorbed the unique spirit of the seminal club Paradise Garage, weekend after weekend. 

From the Club’s mentor Larry Levan, Boris learned to believe in his musical intuition as well as a broad musical spectrum, which nowadays ranges from Disco, Hi-NRG, Post-Punk and (Kraut-) Rock to House and Neotrance... All of which Boris loves to throw into one set. 
Many years later, Boris became a resident at Panorama Bar’s first incarnation in Berlin, where he was able to build a loyal following by playing long sets lasting until noon. After the old OstGut / Panorama Bar closed, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin. But when the follow up club @Berghain opened its doors in 2004, he quickly focused on playing out here again. 

Since 2005 he has got another musical platform, as he is taking care of the label Careless Records as an A&R. Both as a DJ and as an A&R, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist.

Sveta Pavlova is a vinyl collector from St. Petersburg. She managed to play in the legendary St. Petersburg club "TUNNEL". She has been playing music since the age of 18, or even more than 12. In 2016, her creativity and interest in electronic music were reborn because of her love for the Dub Techno style - she sees in it utopian pictures of our common future. Prefers Dub Techno, as well as Deep House, Minimal, Acid.
Hosted a series of possible IMPRINT parties this year at the Stakenschneider club. Mix of weight in party format, exactly what sounded on the dance floor in the middle of this year. Let's remember him like this!

Ruđer, the moniker of Berlin-based musician Ruggero Baracco, is all about polyrhythms, pitched down techno, and atmospheric vibes. A former punk now devoted to electronic sounds, Ruđer still incorporates basses, effects, and stringed instruments into his music.
The latest mix showcases the artist's journey through various genres, including dub, techno, and minimal rhythms. It's a reflection of Ruđer's moody approach to music composition.

Collaborating is one of our core values, spiced up with friendship, sharing and fun. Amatori is all about this—enjoying the journey together.

Amatori is a Berlin-based collective and record label that celebrates the art of the amateur. Named after the Italian word for 'amateurs,' Amatori consists of international people who share their passion for music and creativity.

The core members of Amatori are based between Berlin and Bassano del Grappa in Italy. While they work full-time in areas beyond music, they use Amatori as a soundboard to bounce ideas, explore music production techniques, and most importantly, enjoy the process.

As a collective, the group encourages exchanging knowledge in a safe space, whether that space is a living room, video call, stream or DIY party location. Since 2019, the community has ebbed and flowed, welcoming friends and mutual friends from abroad into the fold. Together they build a network to boost each other's projects. B2B DJ sets, mixing and mastering one another's tracks, providing feedback and sharing music is standard within the group. Supporting and encouraging creativity in any shape—as well as being supported by and in constant dialogue with other arts—is vital to the collective.

The aesthetic of Amatori has oscillated between down-tempo, layer-textured melodies like the Recel EP to percussive-heavy, dark atmospheres in Lub~Dub. Every month, the collective invites intriguing DJs to contribute to Amatori's multi-toned Amamix archive. Building a diverse sound palette is integral to Amatori, with a policy that welcomes any genre. So far, five releases make up the label's back catalogue, with plenty more in the pipeline by local and international producers.

Bio / Story -Martin Nonstatic - Studio Podcast:

In periods of producing, some individual recordings, samples and sounds that get developed are leftover but not useless, as physical albums are simply limited in time.  
That also applies to tracks and some 5 million ideas :-)

Martin decides to reveal the material for later, which can be integrated into other tracks, for remixes and definitely for podcast mixes. 
Like this one for Deep Electronics.

The ambient mood of this podcast session is inspired by the surrounding forest and contemplative lake, which is conducive to the atmosphere of his studio.

Together with Keeva Pfeiffer´s special vocal and speech recordings and deep sense for ambient, this studio podcast for Deep Electronics, (based in Martin´s native country ) became very special to him and is dedicated to all deep ambient lovers. It´s frequencies are about the mystical, love, knowledge, mother earth and the universe.

Ambient Sessions # 62 - Martin Nonstatic

Deep Electronics is presenting it's 11th special podcast. These special releases are unique sets created by unique artists. The 11th chapter is created by Funky Jeff. He created a mix with Basic Channel only tracks. A must for every Basic Channel fan and listener.

About:
Basic Channel is a techno production duo and record label, composed of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, that originated in Berlin in 1993. The duo became known in the mid-1990s for a series of vinyl-only releases under various aliases including Basic Channel, Maurizio, Phylyps, Quadrant, and Cyrus. The original nine releases under the Basic Channel name would draw on minimalism and the sparse production techniques of dub reggae, becoming influential and pioneering works of minimal and dub techno.

The duo set up a studio in Berlin on Paul-Lincke-Ufer, in a building which was eventually to house Mark Ernestus’ distributing company and shop Hard Wax, and the label's mastering studio Dubplates & Mastering, set up to ensure a desired dynamic quality for the vinyl.

The Basic Channel imprint ceased business in 1995 (apart from two releases almost a decade later that were originally issued on Carl Craig's Planet E label), but were followed by a string of similar labels. Main Street handled Chicago house-inspired releases; Chain Reaction released non-Von Oswald/Ernestus productions and helped launch the careers of dub techno producers such as Monolake and Porter Ricks.

Basic Channel has also shown a strong affinity for Jamaican music. The Rhythm & Sound label imprint saw the duo's sound move closer to dub reggae. Frequent Rhythm & Sound collaborator Paul St. Hilaire set up the subsidiary False Tuned in 2003.

Basic Channel has released two compilation CDs which collect edits of their 12" releases: BCD (1995) and BCD-2 (2008)

Welcome to the 291th chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast. This weeks set brings back the Atmospheric Drum N Bass to Deep Electronics! Mixed by returning artist Aural Imbalance. Known for his deep intens and very rythmic Atmospheric Drum N Bass music but also for his Progressive house productions.

Bio:
Aural Imbalance AKA Simon Huxtable has been writing and creating atmospheric music since
1997, creating deep emotive tracks across many electronic music genres including drum & bass
and spacey house / progressive. The key to the AI sound is deep synthesis with the focus on the
spaced out atmospherics that create a warm hypnotic feel.
The Aural Imbalance sound has spanned the globe with original tracks and remixes over various
established electronic labels including Cadence Recordings, Within Records, Lynx Recordings,
Advection Music, Greta Cottage Workshop, Secrets of the Sun Recordings, Ascendent Grooves,
Elliptical Sun Recordings, SoulRidaz, 7 Seas Records, Stasis
Recordings, Cambrian Line,
OdysseyRecordings, Embarcadero Records, Adro Records and has also had tracks featured on
mixed CD’s on Global Underground.

Welcome to the 303th Chapter of the Deep Electronics serie. A weekly released serie that brings you a diversity into the abyss of deep electronic music. This week Master Nark makes his debute in the Deep Electronics serie.  His set makes a good balance in dubtedchno music.

Bio:
It is said that Masternark 2 first appeared on the hot summer of 2018 in the Hungarian countryside after having an understanding with the interstellar god Ketakiteh. Realizing the essence of nature is subtlety in a minimal form forever changing like water . . . The continuous stream of impressions and feelings coming together in one dimension. Not where but when, all in an ever changing journey of time music flows . . . through music, Masternark 2 always wants to deliver a sincere journey evoking reflection upon ourselves and the world we are a part of. Always playing progressive tunes that often includes minimal hypnotic beats with a deep bassline, he enjoys both uptempo and downtempo traveling. Always in search of those vibes taking you to distant lands and off this globe. Currently Masternark 2 is spinning records in his Stockholm suburb Brick City and its surroundings.

Welcome to the 308th Chapter of the Deep Electronics serie. A weekly released serie that brings you a diversity into the abyss of deep electronic music. This week Giacomo Pellegrino makes is debut on the channel for the last chapter of 2020.

Bio:
Thin, full of weeds, with his afro hair that is a sort of tribute to the black roots of a sound shared by funk and house, which make it look like a cloud of mushrooms! This is the way we love to describe it while playing sacred and deep grooves. Giacomo Pellegrino belongs to that particular category of people who knows the meaning of the word passion very well. He received his "Calling" for djing when he was only fourteen. Son of a musician, at that time he followed him in every concert, visiting the most important clubs and clubs in Sicily. Thanks to this, he developed a real passion for music and clubbing and, later, for djing. Although he is still too young to perform as a DJ at night, Giacomo started organizing some shows for his friends, playing sets focused on the dance music of the 70s and 80s, his first musical love. Giacomo Pellegrino isn’t only a very talented dj and also a very successful producer, his music is supported by big names. and founder and owner of the Detroit Side and Vibe Experience vinyl only record labels with the best artists of the undergrond scene.

Deep Electronics # 308 - Giacomo Pellegrino

All is freezing.

White. Grey and white. Grey and white and cold.
Everything is shining bright, as far as the eye can see. 
And where it can’t, everything still is as white as can be.

You turn around to remember where you came from, but your footsteps have long faded in this endless frozen desert. But instead of worrying your thoughts become as light as the snowflakes that keep dancing around your nose and intuitively you join this continuing movement that is fueled by the wind. 

There is nowhere you need to be. There is nowhere you would rather be.
And as you sway and swirl you feel a growing buoyancy that takes you up. 
Up where it all comes into being. And everything around you is white and grey.

And you’re not freezing anymore.
