The inscription pulsed on the obsidian monolith, a mantra against the swirling void. I held the tuning fork, its cosmic hum countering the alien symphony. Each note vibrated through me, a fractal shattering of time. Days bled into centuries, and realities flickered like dying embers. Yet, the inscription remained a constant in the chaos.
Was it 30 years, 3 hours, 1 minute, and 3 seconds, or a mere 3 seconds stretched across an eternity? The distinction dissolved. I, a cosmic surfer on a wave of pure distortion, became one with the music of the spheres. When the final note resonated, a profound silence echoed. The inscription, now cold and inert, mocked the immensity of the journey: a lifetime or a heartbeat. The 30:03:01:03 remained a cryptic testament to an exhilarating and strangely melancholy journey, a yearning for a past that might have been a future or a future that echoed from a forgotten time.

Bio/
An electronic music collective from Siberia creates dub techno music. They strive to develop deep, atmospheric, minimalistic yet meaningful and intelligent music that reflects their mood, emotions, and surroundings. The guys also manage the Siberian dub techno label [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB], which has produced more than 60 artists. The label also releases a series of dub techno podcasts, DUBBISM.

For the month of April's 'Live' mix we welcome 2 legends from the dub techno scene that we were super happy to welcome behind the Eastern Bloc Decks.

First up 'Ohm' (bjarnar jonsson) the Icelandic producer who has been heavily involved within the scene for the past 30 years steps up with releases on some of dub techno's biggest hitters including Thule records, Kontakt, Taped Artifact, Vade mecum, Vuo records and AE Recordings which he co-ran with Octal Industries and Thor from Thule Records. A label owner himself his 'Ohm Series' label has been steadily releasing music since 2021.

Alongside him 'Kvadrant' (Johnny Fredsgaard) a Danish producer who was a resident on the legendary TweakFM, and runs one of the most healthy and well respected dub techno labels out there currently- Kontakt records. With past artists including - Substance, Mike Schommer, Grad_U, Ohm, VRIL, JS Zeiter, Luke Hess & Octal Industries.

I'm sure you'll agree it's a beautifully put-together 4 hours of deep washy goodness.

" Myself and Johnny came over to honour an invite from our brothers in Music : Quadrant Soundscape. When we first came the place felt small, a little pub thing, but we felt good, the vibe in there just felt good. The hosts started playing some good tracks, the sound system felt big in such a small place. 

We started and it got packed, in such a way that it felt perfect to play some records for the crowd. I love small clubs with big systems and Eastern Bloc was the real deal. Four hours we played, one record at a time and the mood and vibe just kept building. Lots of happy people listening and dancing, it felt surreal and I would do it over and over again. "

Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 007

The 7th instalment of our In:Focus Series places the spotlight on a very specific point in time - The Early Deepchord records years.

In the late 1990s the Deepchord record label was co-founded by Rod Modell & Mike Schommer in Detroit, Michigan. After just four years and achieving far more success than initially anticipated, DeepChord Records wound down operations. For this In Focus we want to concentrate specifically on the work that Rod and Mike did before they disbanded.

Across the Dub Techno scene the name Deepchord carries the highest of gravitas. Elite level quality, and considered by many to be, alongside Basic Channel, the blueprint of the genre.

So much has been written about Deepchord over the years, and we're not here to repeat what's been said (you can check out a great interview with Mike from a few years ago here - inn8.net/interview-with-mike-schommer-deepchord/ ), we're here to celebrate the music and we hope that through this session we have done that.

Today we are happy to share SAL’s interpretation of Far Blue. 

With the mix, the German duo tells the story of a couple who slowly wake up from a dream-like state where everything was fine and realize that it's not working anymore. As the discussions become more intense and end in arguments, they break up and decide to go in different directions and move on, but not without continuing to appreciate each other.

About:
'Cenk's attention to music started by hearing his brother playing The Art Of Noise - Moments In Love, in the year 1985. When breakdancing got popular in town they both started collecting electro-funk records accordingly. This goes until 1988 where he heard a new dance craze called New Beat and Acid house, came out from Belgium and the UK. These two turning points fixated his path in dance music. In 1992, luckily he found out tape recordings of the very first Techno Trax compilation series of ZYX Music and aware of this new euphoric dance beats called Techno. His favourite label back then Force Inc Music led him to be aware and enjoy each and every dance music styles. Having a large collection of music in all forms, he has invited to local radio programs to share those unique sounds with other curious minds until the internet era came to our lives. Since 2000, shares his selections from his archive via his web account. Even though never interested in becoming a DJ, he time to time invited to play local venues''
