Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 007

The 7th instalment of our In:Focus Series places the spotlight on a very specific point in time - The Early Deepchord records years.

In the late 1990s the Deepchord record label was co-founded by Rod Modell & Mike Schommer in Detroit, Michigan. After just four years and achieving far more success than initially anticipated, DeepChord Records wound down operations. For this In Focus we want to concentrate specifically on the work that Rod and Mike did before they disbanded.

Across the Dub Techno scene the name Deepchord carries the highest of gravitas. Elite level quality, and considered by many to be, alongside Basic Channel, the blueprint of the genre.

So much has been written about Deepchord over the years, and we're not here to repeat what's been said (you can check out a great interview with Mike from a few years ago here - inn8.net/interview-with-mike-schommer-deepchord/ ), we're here to celebrate the music and we hope that through this session we have done that.

Silent Season’s label boss Jamie McCue takes us to the coast of British Columbia for a two hour long journey of deep and ethereal sounds inspired by the radiant beauty of the rainforests of Canada’s Vancouver Island. “I recorded this mix in my back garden chilling out in the sun with a few friends. The night before we played a pretty big gathering so this was the perfect vibe to chill out and enjoy some deeper music.”
