About this journey:
The other side ....we got lost in a maze of dirt tracks, winding through umbrella pines, arbutus trees and eucalyptus. We walked, criss-crossed, here and there, following our choice of footsteps, without judging them, without worrying.
Suddenly, in front of us, a grotto appeared, illuminated by old-fashioned candles.  We weren't alone; other souls were already there. We were told that a special ceremony was about to take place there, and that they were waiting for us. We were invited to take into our hands a steaming elixir; a magical infusion of Moringa, carefully prepared by the two local mages, Dr ChucuChucu and Jeremiah.
The voices fell silent, and a haunting music rose up, harmoniously blending hypnotic tones and organic percussion.

At the far end of the cave, we made out a silhouette, encircled by a white light. We were told it was Lalla Mira, the capricious female spirit of the Gnawa pantheon. She who calls for joy of living, love, sharing and dance, she who embodies the quest for roots, a deep anchorage in the frenetic pace of our modern lives.

 Lalla Mira's music enveloped the grotto in captivating vibrations. The heady rhythms of percussion blended with the ethereal melodies of traditional instruments, creating an echo of the ancient soul and a connection with our deepest essence. The sounds, both powerful and percussive, transported our spirits to distant horizons, while rooting our feet in mother earth. It was as if each note resonated with the beating of our hearts, inviting us to dance, to celebrate life, and to connect with something greater than ourselves.

About this journey:
This set is a journey through the intersection of organic, slow-paced rhythms—the very elements that first captivated me with downtempo—and my current exploration of texture, depth, and trippy soundscapes. It tells a story that moves between moments of tension and unease, and those that despite the tension, offer a sense of comfort through their smooth, rounded tones.

Kida is a french artist based in Paris and member of the music & scenography collective @revegeneralcollectif. Driven by her passion for downtempo and the exploration of textures, she blends trippy sounds, deep basslines and hypnotic melodies. Kida is fascinated by the ability to translate emotions through music and storytelling. In each set, she creates a sort of dream, a story mixing both inexplicable and familiar elements. Kida’s sets provide a space to feel a lot, and to get lost in the depths of sound.

✔️ Was sind deine musikalischen Einflüsse? Was ist dein musikalischer Hintergrund? 

Schon in meiner Kindheit hat mich meine klassische Musikausbildung geprägt – ich habe 14 Jahre lang Klarinette gespielt. Mit anderen Menschen Musik zu erleben und zu machen, hatte schon immer eine absolut positive Wirkung auf mich. Meine ersten gekauften Alben kamen aber tatsächlich aus dem Bereich der elektronischen Musik, um genau zu sein von Sunshine Live. Danach bin ich durch zahlreiche Genres gereist, bis ich schließlich, auch durch meinen Umzug 2009 nach Berlin, der elektronischen Musik nicht mehr von der Seite weichen wollte. Im Salon der Rummelsbucht habe ich meine Liebe für Downtempo entdeckt.

2023 habe ich durch einen Workshop bei @femquency meine Hemmungen über Board geeworfen und meinen lange gehegten Wunsch, selbst aufzulegen, in die Tat umgesetzt. Eins führte zum anderen – und here we are. Ich könnte nicht glücklicher über diese Entwicklung sein und freue mich, meine musikalische Reise mit Euch zu teilen.

✔️ Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus? 

Liebe Menschen, ein heißer Kakao und vor allem viel Zeit für langsame Beats.

✔️ Welche Gedanken magst du uns zu deinem Mix mit auf den Weg geben? 

Manchmal ist es nicht ganz einfach, sich in einen Club-Kontext hinein zu denken und fühlen, wenn der eigene Modus sich eher auf der Couch befindet. Drei Entwürfe wurden verworfen, bis ich mich dazu entscheiden habe, mich auf meine erste Intuition zu verlassen.
Für mich ist essentiell Momente zum Träumen, zum Weinen, zum Lachen und zum Abschalten zu generieren, dabei aber immer in einer positiven Energie zu bleiben.

✔️ Bei Mitschnitten von Gigs: Wie hast du den Gig im Beate Uwe empfunden? 
Ich durfte einen komplett vollen und aufgeheizten Floor übernehmen - Big Shoutout an Joanna Lenta! Da war ich schon sehr nervös, aber ab Track Nummer 1 war irgendwie alles gut! Die Energie der TänzerInnen hat mich komplett abgeholt und entspannen lassen. Und dann war da dieser Flow, von dem alle reden. Ich glaube man hat es mir angesehen.

Some schools of psychotherapy focus on becoming aware of emotions and naming them in order to understand our inner landscape, to be ultimately able to experience them more consciously and to help regulating them in healthy ways. If you want to practice this skill, Nɨxe’s set is a rich playground opportunities; full of wondrous sights and twists and turns. Through depth and highs, sometimes bold and in your face and sometimes tickling you from behind, it is a journey through different strata, contexts and epochs of slow, electronic dance music. However, while exploring the landscape, it never fails to keep an eye on the dance floor to get you heart jumping, your face smiling and your hips gyrating. If you want the full experience, set aside, what you’ve been doing, listen, turn up the volume a little and drop into yourself to feel those feelings. And don’t worry: nobody said you shouldn’t dance while doing so.

Ahh the live set, the great test of vulnerability, surrender and ego. After DJing for so many years committing to performing only my own compositions on the fly all summer has brought a whole new level of love and appreciation for my art and performance, I could write paragraphs on it but will leave you with this recording. Thanks to everyone who danced at the shows and stuck around for the weird interludes and abstract openings 😉 ! This was my favourite recording from the summer, at Strawberry Fields Festival, In my eyes the perfect setting for my music.
