Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 007

The 7th instalment of our In:Focus Series places the spotlight on a very specific point in time - The Early Deepchord records years.

In the late 1990s the Deepchord record label was co-founded by Rod Modell & Mike Schommer in Detroit, Michigan. After just four years and achieving far more success than initially anticipated, DeepChord Records wound down operations. For this In Focus we want to concentrate specifically on the work that Rod and Mike did before they disbanded.

Across the Dub Techno scene the name Deepchord carries the highest of gravitas. Elite level quality, and considered by many to be, alongside Basic Channel, the blueprint of the genre.

So much has been written about Deepchord over the years, and we're not here to repeat what's been said (you can check out a great interview with Mike from a few years ago here - inn8.net/interview-with-mike-schommer-deepchord/ ), we're here to celebrate the music and we hope that through this session we have done that.

Evelyn Malinowski (fka Experimental Housewife), a Bay Area underground legend and founder of Perfect Location Records now known as exhouse, graces our "Delayed With..." series with a truly unique mix.

exhouse's musical wisdom is a potent blend of 25 years spent digging for vinyl and spinning records on the radio. F-on, the alias of Alfonso Pomeda, is known for his profound progressive sessions with long mixes, creating voyages through experimental music, ambient, and dubby techno. His productions are 4x4 experiments at a low tempo, incorporating field recordings, timbres, textures, and cinematic structures. He is a resident at Alpenglühen and Taiga sessions and co-owner of the label Antimatter. Additionally, he runs the Alpenglühen label, which focuses on deep and ambient techno, exploring the line between light and darkness.

Mareena, the founder of Unrush, met Alfonso at the Mostra Festival in Barcelona un 2023. Their connection through music was immediate, making it natural to invite him to Unrush…
