Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Anthony Asher-Yates approached ambient music when he moved to Colombia, being inspired by the diversity of the ecosystems that exist in this region. Known for taking his listeners deep into the tropical rainforest, Bålsam has conjured up a dream world surrounded by nature. Anthony's music is composed by field recordings he does during his walks though the mountains where he now lives with partner Nina Nativa and his daughter.

A year of discoveries. Thinking back through the last year, there has been a plethora of fantastic labels, and artists that have passed under the Sundays banner. This Sunday and month in general also marks the second year of monthly playlists, and guest mixes. The latter of which is our focus for today as we welcome an incredible producer, Inhmost. From beat to beat-less, his refined approach to crafting ambient mixes provides listeners with auditory tales that flow so well, all while working in a variety of moods and feelings. Inhmost is one of the monikers of S.Huxtable who wanted a representation for the more ambient and downtempo works that he creates which would allow the freedom of expression within these genres, deep space atmospheres and otherworldly soundscapes are the order of the day.
Situated in the South West of England the local area provides the backdrop for inspiration with the coast and countryside allowing an escape into the wild for moments of reflection.

This August, it has been two years since launching the first iteration of the 9128.live 24/7 streaming site + app. 

We didn’t know back then, that the additional live weekend takeovers would be such an escape for us all during the lockdowns and a way to connect, keep a small community together and discover even more new music. But they ended up becoming some of our fondest memories over the past two years. So we’ll be celebrating this milestone with another marathon takeover on August 20th.

Welcome to the 27th chapter of the Ambient Sessions presented by Deep Electronics. This monthly released podcast brings you the best and the most diversity Ambient music can offer. 

This month set is mixed by Ryan Griffin, owner of A Strangely Isolated Place.

An introduction:

I rarely approach mixes with a concept in mind and often find them developing organically in the process. I did however, want this mix to be a deep journey, which was hard, as I've been listening to lots of melodic synthesizer music recently, so I had to get in the right mind-set for it. I started to picture space, and was partly inspired by this video for an Alva Noto track which is a spectacular combination of imagery and sound. The mix ended up being an accompanying soundtrack to some kind of failed rocket launch - starting with optimism, becoming more intense, experiencing glitches and more dramatic moments along the way, and finally falling back down to earth and more recognizable, familiar ground. It's a little cliché for an ambient mix- but I find it extremely relaxing to picture a journey along the way and felt this one came together quite nicely if listened to as a whole.

If there was ever a timeless form of music, one could argue it is dub techno. From his drifting, weightless chords to the sheets of melancholic atmosphere he crafts, Fingers in the Noise has proven himself to be a true purveyor of this sound. As profound as any basic channel record, his albums create an expansive space within which the listener can truly exist. Since 2009 he has been churning out the highest quality dub techno and ambient music on his own Fitn Personal Records imprint as well as many others, so it was only natural that we ask him to cook up something special for UNRUSH. Anthony Asher-Yates AKA Bålsam is a visual / sound artist from Minneapolis, Minnesota… When he was a child, he dreamt of traveling into the wilderness and finding  places in nature with beautiful rivers, waterfalls, jungles and birds. His journeys have brought him all over the South American, where he began listening and recording the voice of nature through walks in the mountains. This became the raw material to transform his music. 
Now he resides in the mountains of Colombia with his partner Nina Nativa, where they work with ceremonies, therapy, rituals and plant medicine. Choosing this healing path for himself, has allowed him to open his heart, cleanse his body overcome fears and believe in his creation as a healing vibration.
 
"I would describe this liveset as a naked journey into various natural environments, a free dream walk, where the listener can go from the jungle, to the cloud forests and to the ocean without time or space limits. to create my music, I've walked and lived in all these places with my sound recorder and my video camera. To connect in the moments recording the birds, creatures and elements in nature, it has been important to be barefoot, calm, silent, receptive and attentive, so nature's beings can keep singing their songs....so I don't interfere.."

The goal of the Inhmost sound is to blend deep atmospheric feelings and organic nature that combine into a dreamlike state of mind that come straight from the heart.  The intention is that whilst listening to the music the listener is transported to calmer places of beauty and of light and shade.

Inhmost 는 앰비언트와 다운템포의 장르적 범주에서 자유로운 표현을 지향하는 S.Huxtable 의 또 다른 이름이다. Inhmost 사운드의 목적은 깊은 대기적 감정들과 유기적 자연을 섞어내어 마음에서 우러나오는 꿈과도 같은 정신으로 결합하는 것이다.
