Nimda - Stay Down

Plucked from Orange County obscurity as a teenager by seminal Angeleno bass label SMOG, Pavarotti's been at the center of the dubstep game for the entirety of his adulthood. That whole time, he's kept a staunch allegiance to the deepness, holding a mantra that places "the preservation of the original sound" over flash-in-the-pan fads or tear-outs that always crank it to 11.

Each month a member of the Deep, Dark and Dangerous crew will put up a pack of samples. Over the following month we want producers out there to download the samples and get to work creating beats. At the end of the month, we'll compile the most interesting results into a mix. And release the dopest beats for free via Deep, Dark & Dangerous.

Here's a quick demo we chucked together to show you this month's samples

This is NOT a competition, it's a chance to interact and collaborate with other producers of the Deep, Dark & Dangerous persuasion. It's all about stimulating creativity, getting people involved and inspired. Because the end product is a mix, tracks don't necessarily need to be fully laid out, an intro leading to a sick drop concept could be just as powerful as a 5 minute long masterpiece. Just get in there and get your hands dirty, the more interesting and original the better!

DDD Collab Project - District - Sample Pack 2

It is with great pleasure that we wrap up the first round of the Deep, Dark & Dangerous Collaboration Project. First things first, the standard was really high and left us feeling really good about the direction things are heading! 
Here's the final product, a mix of some of our favourite submissions, all made using the sample pack we provided at the start of the month! An orchestral choir sings out while weird and wonderful synths flutter and float around the mix. An equally unnatural and charismatic bass line moves in and out of an excitable hat arrangement. As the ghostly haunts of the Choir return they’re joined by new melodic content and the introduction of additional percussion opens a whole new dimension and exciting chapter to what seems like a book which may have multiple outcomes.
