Mim is a professional in art and independent consultant dedicated to the development of alliances, strategic planning, communication and cultural management for a diversity of artistic projects. She has been developing the music & art project Mitamine Lab for almost 10 years —without expectations or pretension. She’s also a selector and vegan activist: „I love diversity and I really love different kinds of music and genres. I'm trying to educate myself by switching my mental thoughts from negative to positive. I’ve been pretty disconnected from the ‘Mexican scene’ but I still trust in my excellent taste and ears.“ So let‘s dive deep into the story told by Mim in this eclectic mix.

It's a feeling, not a genre.  Our focus is to represent outspoken, experimental and filthy electronic music in all its facets.

This channel was part of a project of mine where I, someone with no experience with making music, never played an instrument, and only casually enjoy music, sat down to see if I could document my journey from knowing nothing about music/audio software or how to make music, to being able to make simple beats or loops. The twist: each song must be done in one sitting, and not worked on over time. Doesn’t matter if the song is incomplete, or how bad the song sucks - the goal was to sit down, make “music”, and then upload. Song titles were chosen ahead of time to be used as the theme/tone of the “music” I was sitting down to make, or by just taking the first words that popped up into mind upon uploading the “song”,  regardless of how dumb they are. 

I had fun. It’s interesting to go back and listen chronologically. I can’t say any of them turned out objectively “good” (a few got stuck on my head though lol) or anything people would enjoy, but I can hear pretty clear improvement between the very first “song”, and the most recent “song”. 

The results of the project were noticeable. The entire process was super fun, and I found an interest and appreciation for music that wasn’t there in that way before. It also made me want to actually continue making “music”, but learn it as I would any other craft and taking it much more seriously. I learned a lot about audio/music software, too; before, I was overwhelmed by the interface and the uses of the many functions in the program, but toward the end of all of this, i was able to use all sorts of things I had no idea how to just a year earlier. 

Anyway, in case any of you dopes wanted to know what the motivation was behind any of this “music”, there it is. I did a yearlong experiment to see how fast I could go from a musically-reta*ded person to a musically-challenged person that can make a loop.
