‘Downtown’ retains the headrush feeling of ‘Microbial’, but Sym:bol adds an edge to proceedings by deploying warbling bass patterns, which he then distorts and bends to his will. The result? A peak time rave tune that’s firing on all cylinders, designed for the darkest club nights, and made to expand each synapse of the brain.

Kicking off the single is ‘Microbial’. Rising pads set an ominous tone before the track eases into a headrush of biting bass and precision cut rhythms. ‘Microbial’ is a minimal and lean drum & bass workout, with the percussion lines and webs of synth setting an exhilarating tone. The heat turns up in the next portion of the track, as Sym:bol offers a variation on the original riff, ensuring ‘Microbial’ captures the imagination from start to finish.

We’re delighted to welcome one of our favourite producers at present - Dunk - back to the OTW network, who makes his second appearance in as many weeks on our channels, following last week’s drop with Context Audio. With an unmatched work ethic and an unmistakably subby production makeup, Dunk’s surefire productions are instantly recognisable, and he’s fast becoming one of the go-to names in the genre. 

For his latest outing, he’s supplied a ravaging collection on Dublin favourites inHabit Recordings, who they themselves have really been powering upwards recently with drops from Bristol stalwart Myth, Brainwork, Maykors, Kidsonic and more. Dunk continues this apt trend of quality, which are now cemented hallmarks of both artist and label. Wholly excelling on our premiere - ‘Polarize’ - the Brazilian bulldozer conjures up a typically thumping, mesmerically-minimal cut that’s laden with savage synthetics and snappy percs. Effortlessly crisp and fresh, it’s yet more gold from Dunk.
