Hard to believe that another year has already passed by. Decided to mix another one of these on account of the fair amount of good music we've been blessed with this year. I've taken a different approach with this one. I'm usually very meticulous when it comes to compiling my mixes (last year's mix took me 8 months to put together) but i've decided to mix this one on the fly with no pre planned tracklist. Bespoke Musik Radio 050 : BAEZ Presents "Fordel"

In Australia, where the musical project Dead Can Dance is from, the aboriginal tribe of the Watagora and Kamilaroi use the word "Yulunga" refering to the "Spirit of the Dance". From there seems to stem the verb "yulugi", which in his ancestral language means to dance or to play. 

According to the Watagora, Yulunga (the Rainbow Serpent and spirit of dance) still sleeps on the River Duck. She wakes up after every storm when touched by the rays of the sun, to watch the sky and protect the good people.

Dead Can Dance - Yulunga (Álvaro Suárez Edit)

A bit sloth-wise belated, here is my recording from this year's Burning Man festival in the beautiful, but harsh desert of Nevada. Luckily I got the chance to stay at the lovely Ibiza Camp, which turned out to be a nest of international musicians that I knew only through their music and projects. So a lot of exchange happened, new friendships grew and endless hours of great music were around us every day. Inspiring times... I got the chance to play several times at this crazy place, mostly spontaneous and super fun back to backs with friends that unfortunately weren’t recorded… dusty disco bubble memories that will never die. But on Saturday afternoon I stayed in the oriental DJ booth – with that incredible view out into the open desert, on passing art cars and weird costumes.

Die See wird zusehends rauer und Poseidon lässt seine Wellen höher herauf peitschen und zudem schickt uns der zottelige, halbnackte Meeresgott auch noch dunkle, tief hängende Wolken entgegen. Die Tage sind also zu kurz, um sich an den wenigen Sonnenstrahlen zu erfreuen und somit wird die Crew weinerlicher - da hilft nur ein Machtwort von eurem Käpt’n https://soundcloud.com/rolandson und ein musikalischer Kajütenschunkler von Smutje https://www.soundcloud.com/lauterbach , damit hier wieder ein wohlwollendes Grinsen und ein geschmeidiges Miteinander einkehren, welches dann sogleich den grauen November-Alltag vergessen macht.

Dem LauterBach sein Mix, so zitiere ich ihn » ist eine roadstory zu See, die den Weg durch die wilden Täler der aufbrausenden Wellen wiedergibt.« TjaHa, eine Seereise ist anfangs meist entspannt und wird mit zunehmenden Winden und Stürmen eben aber auch immer härter. Das versucht der Frischling an Bord mit groovigen Nummern zum Ausdruck zu bringen, da »die aber alle ihre Besonderheiten haben, wird es eine interessante Reise. Dead Can Dance have announced details of the release of a new single, Opium, through [PIAS] Recordings on 29th October 2012.

The single is taken from their recently released album, Anastasis, which came out in August. The album was their first since 1996’s Spiritchaser. 

The band also recently announced an extensive European tour, including a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, tickets for which sold-out within 48 hours of going onsale.

Signed by 4AD and releasing their first album in 1984, the duo drew rapturous reviews for albums that spanned neo-classical and folk across time and geography, each album selling to a progressively larger audience, the emotional drama of their coming to the attention of the San Francisco ballet, Hermes Perfume and a documentary on Hitler and Stalin; likewise motion pictures such as Heat, The Crossing Guard and Baraka. Gerrard developed her own solo film soundtracks - The Gladiator and The Insider, for example – while Perry worked on solo albums such as 1999’s ‘Eye Of the Hunter’ and 2008’s ‘Ark’.
