Smokin' Sessions are extremely excited to announce the new single titled 'Intersection' from one of the label's most celebrated artists that goes by the name of Synkro.

The release is taken from the long-awaited compilation release 'The Session' Vol.2.
The follow-up compilation from the 10-year celebration back in 2017 continues along with the same energy that Smokin' Sessions are so well known for, offering floaty and uplifting productions with detailed beat work, along with that all-important heavy serving of lower frequencies. 
We hear some absolute classics from names such as Djrum, Geode, Versa & Rowl, Escapism Refuge, Occult, Mercy, and some newcomers to the label in the form of Marenn Sukie & Synpal.
There are 5 exclusive, unreleased tracks in total. 2 stunners from Synkro, 1 from Biome, and another 2 from Synpal.

'Intersection' takes it back to that classic Sessions sound of 2 step beats, sub-low weight underpin, and cloud-like pad progressions that fill the higher end of the frequency spectrum.
As you would expect from Synkro, the beats are super detailed and masterfully arranged. An array of percussion and hi-hats, weave in and out of the production throughout, while the pads at the forefront of the mix breath fluidity across the arrangement.
The sub-bass sits subtly enough underneath the track to not draw you away from the melodies, yet pulses enough to give the track warmth and weight.
An instant classic Sessions offering that will be a firm favourite with fans for sure. 

Having released with Exit Records, Brownswood, On The Edge, Deep Heads, Styrax, Auxiliary & Med School, as well as remixes for Model 500, Snow Patrol, Lowb & a plethora more, Synkro has most recently found a home at R&S sister label 'Apollo'.  Major support for Synkro's music has come from names like Chris Coco, Giles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs, Prefuse 73 and dBridge. While 2019 has continued the trend of producers pillaging the past for sounds and textures of yesteryear, a few of the elder statesman of the genre continue to press forward to new soundscapes and vistas hitherto unheard. So it is for Jim Coles and Damon Kirkham---better known as Om Unit and Kid Drama---who have teamed up for a fertile 4-tracker on Apollo Records, founded in 1992 as the Ambient division of R&S Records.

Damon has been up to bat plenty of times in his roughly 20 year history, recording his earliest works alongside Boddika as part of the duo Instra:mental, while Jim has been dancing along a spectrum of bass music over the last decade, ranging from low-slung hip hop to mutant variations of jungle and footwork. Jim and Damon have also both produced for the renowned Metalheadz label, resulting in some of the most fervent and caustic examples of drum and bass music of recent memory; however, Om Unit and Kid Drama sync up here to deliver gorgeously blissed-out cuts of astral exploration.

We are very proud to present Per Ardua II, the second in our Per Ardua series. Taking its name from the latin for "Through Endeavour" the Per Ardua series aims to explore different sonic territory from our usual mainstay and to delve deeper into the rich strata that make up 170bpm music.  

Taking several years to curate, we have put together eight tunes that, while from different producers, all share strong thematic elements. All parts melodic, gentle and emotive, the eight tracks are each a celebration of everything that 170bpm music can acheive and a reminder that drum and bass doesn't just have to be about processed breaks and huge basslines. 

From everyone here, we sincerely hope you enjoy the LP as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.
