Deep Heads is back people! This time with a fresh EP from label alumni Feverkin. An artist that understands the ethos of Deep Heads, Feverkin has contributed to both 3 & 4 of the label’s flagship series ‘Cosmic Vibrations’

Expanding on the soundscape of ‘Element & Moderate’ taken from Cosmic Vibration Volume 4, Feverkin’s upcoming EP titled ‘Hollow Fire’ is a glimpse into the artist’s intrapersonal journey of purging the old ways to make room for the new. 
 
The first single ‘Dead Branch’ is a marvelous example of Feverkin’s signature production. The weave of electronic and live instrumentation is beautifully crafted and arranged with immense detail and precision. We hear Feverkin featuring Cello, Felted Upright Piano, and Bass as the main actors on this tune, driven by a swath of percussive textures. 
 
In his own words on ‘Dead Branch’
“This is the song that laid the foundation for the Hollow Fire EP. It started with the piano riff, and I layered drums and it felt earthy and shifty in the way the percussion and piano agreed with each other in the rhythm. In an abstract sense, this song felt like the prologue to the coming mental imagery of a forest fire. A dead branch, or perhaps a twig, is a piece of arboreal debris that you sometimes notice only as you step on it and hear a distinct crack”

Deep Heads are thrilled to announce the return of Feverkin with his latest single release of ‘Within The Weave’. A track taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Hollow Fire’ that drops on October 20th 2023.

‘Within The Weave’ is covered top to bottom in a beautiful, ethereal atmosphere. A cello top line glides across a bedrock of bass and pads, weaving inbetween woodwinds and syncopated drums. With polished production distilled from instrumental performances by the studio wizard himself, ‘Within The Weave’ is rich in detail and a welcome addition to the Deep Heads catalogue.

Feverkin draws influences from the likes of Sorrow, Floating Points, Buena Vista Social Club, Martin Watkinson, Hidden Orchestra, Rachel Grimes, The Smile, Brown Bird, Bremer/McCoy, Bonobo & Ichiko Aoba to name a few that truly inspire him.

In his own words for ‘Within The Weave’
“I wanted to lean more into my older ethereal sound where I drew inspiration from future garage. Using syncopated drums as an outline for the simple reverberated melodies. I had a visual of being in a forest so dense, even the light is dampened by the canopy above and the congregation of tree trunks around”

The Entire EP is drenched with live recorded instruments, all written, performed, and mixed by the one-man band genius known as Feverkin. We hear an array of instruments used in his studio that include Cello, Upright piano, woodwinds, percussions, and many more to this vast and spacious EP.
The finished recordings sound incredible and the detail within the productions are immense.

About the focus track ‘Dance upon Ashes’
The final song in the sequence is also the conclusion to the abstract narrative underlying the music in which after we purge ourselves of undesirable qualities within, we feel a new sense of inner peace and composure. I dusted off the lily harp that's just been sitting under my desk for years that I haven't used since the Calendar Project (so 2017?!). It's a fun instrument to play after getting through the processes of tuning it, literally, every note works.

Deep Heads are thrilled to introduce a new addition to their family that goes by the name, the nice planet. This magnificent artist presents their first single, ‘arpy 2p,’ from their upcoming EP ‘solar ride’. This intergalactic journey of sounds is full of healing and magical energy, capturing a dream-like quality that is both warm and low-key.

The track's name, ‘arpy 2p,’ is fittingly derived from the arpeggiator that lies at the heart of the recording. The nice planet's Rhodes piano performance blends beautifully with the arpeggiator, accompanied by majestic sound effects and frequencies that evoke a sense of wonder and enchantment. The improvisations and analouge hardware showcase the artist's skill and passion for their craft, drawing inspiration from ambient luminaries such as Boards of Canada, Bonobo, Khurgbin, Øneheart, Antent, and Ødyzon.

As the nice planet explains, the track was made with a desire for simplicity and a desire to keep the focus on the arpeggiator. The artist's penchant for improvisation led to the addition of the Rhodes piano performance, resulting in a beautiful and cohesive composition that is a joy to get lost in. Deep Heads and the nice planet are back. This time with a Ødyzon remix edition of ‘minty’, which is a track taken from the forthcoming EP titled ‘solar ride’ from Deep Heads new signing, the nice planet.

If you’ve been tuned into Deep Heads recently, chances are you would have come across Ødyzon. He is an extremely talented young artist who had an incredible EP titled ‘analog’ that was released on the imprint back in August.

The remix from Ødyzon is a brilliant display of what this young recording artist is all about and we are presented with masterfully crafted and arranged compositions within the recording. The ambient and lo-fi nature of the track is accompanied with a healthy serving of slowed and reverbed frequencies and warm subs that surround the production, all arranged to the highest order.

Ødyzon’s music has been supported by some incredible names in the industry that include, Laurent Garnier, Attack Magazine, The Hype Magazine, Rolling Hype, Dreamscape, Lost Sounds & Ambient Music genre & many more taste makers in the Ambient scene.

The original mix of ‘Minty’ will be released very shortly, so keep an eye out for that.

Deep Heads are proud to present ‘minty’ from new signee to the label, the nice planet.
The single release marks the 2nd drop from the forthcoming EP ‘solar ride’ that is due out December 1st, 2023.

‘Minty’ crosses a few different genres, with Ambient, Electronic & Downtempo influences all melding together to create a truly unique production of music. It starts with captivating pads that wrap the entire recording throughout and sets the tone for a deeply immersive experience. The drums hit hard, but still keep a very chilled and downtempo feel to the recording and keeps you locked in and engaged.
Sitting at 105 bpm and with an abundance of floaty frequencies, the track is a true masterpiece and a brilliant display of what this artist is all about.

‘I originally started the track to be a straight-up ambient piece and was originally a beatless production for a long time as I was creating. I then decided to add the drums and felt I couldn’t turn back into a beatless production after this.
It’s a track I really enjoyed creating and is my personal favourite from the EP.

Enceladus is the sixth-largest moon of Saturn and the 19th-largest in the Solar System. It is about 500 kilometers (310 miles) in diameter,about a tenth of that of Saturn's largest moon, Titan. It is mostly covered by fresh, clean ice, making it one of the most reflective bodies of the Solar System. Consequently, its surface temperature at noon reaches only −198 °C (75.1 K; −324.4 °F), far colder than a light-absorbing body would be. Despite its small size, Enceladus has a wide variety of surface features, ranging from old, heavily cratered regions to young, tectonically deformed terrain.

Deep Heads are proud to present the new single 'Breeze Blowing' by Zeb Samuels. 

The single is taken from Zeb's forthcoming album 'Arrival' that is planned for release in the early part of 2021.
 
You can hear the music has come a long way since the first instalments of sounds from Zeb on the imprint and hears a diverse pallet of sounds incorporated into this recording. We hear Zeb's vocals are more progressed, hearing the artist presenting more of a chorus driven piece of music, that breaths settled confidence within his voice. 'Breeze Blowing' delivers the energy of a winter's day, yet captures a warmth, deep within the core of the artistry. A beautiful piano hook is at the very heart of the song, with 2step beats lacing the track together. We also hear the talents of Jed Bevington on Violin who contributes some mind-blowing layers.
 
Then on remix duties is the very talented Canadian born, Sunrain, that Zeb has been a fan of for quite some time. A Pianist at heart with exceptional production techniques, the remix takes the recording into new dimensions. It's stripped back without the vocal but utilises the main piano hook to create an ambient soundscape that is nothing short of exceptional. Definitely an artist to keep an ear on for the future.
 
Zeb Samuels has seen support from a number of tastemaker publications, including the likes of CLASH Magazine, Magnetic-Magazine, XLR8R, Electronic Groove, Decoded Magazine & Rural Sounds, as well as airplay from BBC Radio 6 Music's Gilles Peterson, Don Letts, Nemone & 5FM's Kid Fonque.
