The Brighton-based producer and creative mastermind, Caldera, lets us delve into his multi-faceted personality with his new EP, 5D Worlds. No VR set needed, Caldera follows the chant of the sirens and the shamanic incantations but never directly references them: a psychoactive journey without the psychedelics. 

Caldera’s 5D Worlds is a hyperreal ride, from his signature dubby grooves to his lesser known Tech-Trance whopper fantasies – As the BPM evolves, the sound designs morph and the gentle percussion give way to sonar-like synths and binary rhythms.

For the 12th release on Paraíso, co-founder Shcuro strips things back to assert what truly remains no matter much time may pass.

‘It Lasts Forever’ is the producer’s ode to structural things in his inner life that will keep flowing on unchanged, be it the love for his wife; his reverence to techno - hence the use of classic drum machines like Roland’s 909, 808 and 707; to friendship and community - having one of his dearest mates Steffi take part via the remixer chair.

Steffi picks up the opening track and adds propulsive percussion and further melodic elements to it, creating the perfect gem to close this record.

To wrap up the year, W133 has put together its second Various Artist release featuring a diverse lineup of emerging and established artists. 

Kicking off the EP is the French producer Monibi, offering a groovy and bass-heavy breakbeat track titled "Mahsa Amini." This track serves as a call to fight for women's rights, not only in Iran but around the world.

On A2, San Francisco-based Kudeki showcases her love for tripped-out Techno with "Cursive." This mesmerizing track, featuring a relentless bassline and a 4/4 kick, creates a spooky atmosphere.

On the flip side, label head Pino Peña teams up with samwho from Rotterdam to deliver a percussive power workout. "Jacarandas," named after the purple trees in CDMX, definitely has those Latin American vibes and rhythms that will get you moving.

For the closer of the EP, speed dembow heavyweight Siu Mata delivers a fast-hitting tribal bomb called "Dubiquity," which takes you on a journey through dramatic pads and spaced-out percussions.

The release is, as always, complemented by pictures taken by analogue photographer Freya Gerz and is available on vinyl with fully printed cover sleeves as well as digitally.

Set to release on Flippen Bits as the inaugural offering of 2024, https://soundcloud.com/hekklamusic presents his "Hyper Continuum EP“. Hailing from the southern part of the Netherlands, this Den Bosch-based UK aficionado serves up a handful of quality DJ tools in the higher BPMs. The EP kicks off with "Nano," where distorted vocals intertwine seamlessly with a steady broken groove. "Enter The Blade" follows suit, where acid baselines elegantly interplay with pulsating rave stabs. „Floor Crawl“ is sure one to test every clubs subs with it’s deep bass sweeps, while Hyper Continuum weaves a tapestry of never-ending suspense, complemented by expansive synths and swooping sirens.
To cap it off, Siu Mata contributes a killer remix of the title track, transforming its original elements into a high-speed dembow trip.

Flower Storm is a new multi-disciplinary project from the minds of Sepehr and Kasra V. By recontextualizing classic Iranian sounds and folklore with the contemporaneity of each artist's aural palettes they create a sharp-edged musical sword. Born from the desire for club culture to coexist with the deep roots of their motherland and nationalities, Flower Storm is a simultaneous deep dive into the history of their ancestors as well as a nod to underground electronic soundscapes. 

Through collaboration Sepehr and Kasra V created an entire library of sounds together mixing traditional instruments such as the Daf, Tonbak and Santoor with sampled vocals and dialogues from films in Farsi and various styles of electronic music. 


The name Flower Storm was taken from an animation by Surrealist painter Ali Akbar Sadeghi from 1972, while conceptually and visually, the project is heavily rooted in Iranian mythology and specifically Shahnameh by Abolqasem Ferdowsi as the track titles were taken from the English transition of the book. 

Their debut EP entitled ‘Yek’ (translates to the number 1 in Farsi) is a fierce, four track collection of music alluding and akin to the mythical journeys of ancient stories like Shahnameh. Contemporary and classic sounds interlay and converse with each other in an explosive yet intimate manner, like flowers raining from the sky.

Side A is home to “The Silver Lining”: A classic high-tech string track with infectious bass and an 808909 drumline. This four-tracker, the first release on Sansibar’s 'Sin Sistema' imprint, borrows the best elements of formulas we love, and for a good reason.

‘We Rise’ a spiraling, mesmerizing infusion of yearning pads and a twisting acidic wormhole that leaves no room for doubt: this is Sans on form, and we have lift-off.

‘Elastic’ continues the lysergic theme, turning the dials towards a more sinister entity. Growing, realizing one’s power, and using it.

And on to the B-side, joining forces with Denzel, becoming ‘Sonic Minds’, getting into Techy territory. This is strictly festival business. Tried and tested throughout summer ’23 to devastating effect. Call an ambulance.

The final track ‘2k’ ups the Tech ante and sprinkles some murky UK Garage dust on top: skippy drums, a bouncy bass section, and dubby atmospheric
