Sharlese, the Seattle-based DJ and radio host, thrives on the unexpected. The complexities and intricacies built within one of her sets start a dialogue between genres: from electro to EBM,Italo to techno, her vocabulary is vast but always dark. Sharlese’s DJing creates elegant moments in time in which to fall in love, to cry, to feel. Dance floors all over the world—including IFM in the Netherlands, Tresor West in Dortmund, Panorama Bar and Merge in New York City—have experienced her moody sets that ricochet between a seductive beat and uplifting synth patterns. Additionally, her DJ mixes for prestigious podcasts such as pi pi pi, Feinstoff, KIHDI and BITE have further shown her ability to invoke movement from the most unpredictable array of genres made for the sweaty dance floor.
Most of all, Sharlese’s respect and knowledge for music is deep, and it shows. She’s been working at the prestigious KEXP radio station for 17 years and is now a producer for The Afternoon Show, the Programming Education Manager, and is the host of Mechanical Breakdown, a show that emphasizes off-the-cuff underground and boundary-pushing music. Her club DJ career began in 2012 as a resident of Seattle’s industrial wave event, Second Sight; this experience, alongside hosting shows at Electric Tea Garden, built the foundation for her monthly party, Audiodrome, at the historic Pony. Held on the second Saturday of the month, Audiodrome is a collective that focuses on a variety of styles including Italo, wave, synth, electro and techno—all while streaming live via Intergalactic.fm. False Prophet, Sharlese’s live event series, has been nurturing emerging and celebrated artists
such as Josh Cheon, ADUL T., Nuovo Testamento, Kontravoid, Kris Baha, Franz Scala and Spike Hellis for nearly a decade in Seattle. Additionally, her residencies with the PNW techno collective, secondnature and at Massive Club located in Capitol Hill in Seattle and ROAM Recordings, Problèmes d’amour party in San Francisco further attest to her dedication to her craft and unwavering pursuit to make bodies dance.

Drum grooves left behind on the disk drive of an old SP1200, a rusted spring reverb and crates of dusty records, all boxed up in a distant relative’s workshop. @commandd has uncovered the first tracks in a series of forgotten gems of a distant relative, a craftsman inspired by the raw style of 90s house and techno.

On a mission to keep dancefloors moving, this long-lost relative’s productions find new life, with a hope to travel from city to city, deejays responsible for carrying sounds forged in the fire of an undeniable groove. 

The Vibesmith is the work of an alchemist with the freedom to embrace imperfection and find solace in tradition.

With no concern for passing trends, the Vibesmith went about thankless work at the forge, the fruits of their labour finally available for all to taste.”

Command D presents ‘Fever’, the first in a series of releases under his no muss, no fuss imprint ‘The Vibesmith’. Taking inspiration from Junior Byles’ 50s era joint, also called ‘Fever’, the track is a reinvigoration of an inescapable vibe sure to capture the attention of any willing dance floor.

The smith forges on, with no doubt many more to come.

Since then, he released Eps one after the other on notable labels as Figure, Balance Music, Wave Music, ART, Kontakt Records, Seventh Sign Recordings… He also has several apparitions under different aliases as Intropective, Woods, Il Crononauta, Abstract Souls. In 2014, he co-founded, with his friend Kiny, Last Drop Records; and in 2019 Sonorous Waves. Following this time, Aida found herself deeply engulfed in the world of trip hop with the dark melancholy of the genre strongly impacting the sounds that she is attracted to today. Her artistic vision further shaped through many travel while chasing her biggest inspirations on festival stages especially in San Francisco and Berlin. Today, Aida is exploring the territory where the darker sides techno, deep and tech house meet cultures from around the globe.

Boshoco is Nihad Alabsi and Philippe Zarif – two musicians from Aleppo in Syria. �Their music is a fusion of house beats and eastern sounds, infused with the souls of two cities. �It draws on their upbringings in Aleppo – an ancient crossroads where people and cultures have mingled for millennia.
Boshoco’s sound is made to bring joy through dance: the sublime natural high known in Arabic as "saltaneh".
