One of my happiest moments of the year is when I go to AfrikaBurn. Being there in the middle of nowhere, no civilization, people building shelter and accommodation for a few days, being there for a few days to a week, break off everything and leaving no trace. In the middle of all that I find myself in such a luxurious position where I can see many of my friends, spend time with them without having the distraction of phones, e-mail etc. Being fully present with the people there and then also being able to share music with them….that to me is such a blessing and I think you can hear that back in my sets. So…..I played another set at Space Cowboys and I felt so much joy, I saw so much pure joy in peoples eyes, body language and the sounds which came out of their mouths ;-) Enjoy the live set I played there with the sound of the audience in it as well. Once again delving into the deepest regions of the vast house music ocean - trawling for top-drawer tunage - Vinny Da Vinci and the team at House Afrika Records have caught some big fish for the seventh volume of ‘Deep House Sounds’ – and snagged some seriously distinctive rhythms.

The big fish include some of the grooviest names in the current dance music game; the likes of Home & Garden featuring Lisa Shaw, Abicah Soul (remixing Vick Lavender) and Jamie Anderson & Owain. And there are some very special catches too: contributions from a couple of the recent wave of DJs who have visited SA and become enamoured with its vibrant scene.

These recent visitors to (and vocal ambassadors for) the country include Harley & Muscle (the latter played gigs here alongside Kerri Chandler in 2009) and frequent flyer to these shores, French producer Rocco, who has two cuts included in Vinny’s smooth brew, one of which (“Love Sunsation”) is exclusive to the collection.
	
But as “sunsational” and special as this cut is, it’s just one of the cogs in a fully funk-tioning, hard-driving and highly-charged set that’s seamlessly strung together by a DJ whose credentials are unquestionable, and who’s still on the cutting edge of SA house culture two decades after his dancefloor debut.

“This latest ‘Deep House Sounds’ isn’t a radical departure from previous installments,” according to Da Vinci, adding with a smile that, “It’s not necessary to fix something that isn’t broken!” But he says he feels that the collection takes a leap forward in terms of the freshness of the sound, and reflects the widening appeal of more upfront sounds on SA ‘floors.

The fact that this is the seventh in the series – House Afrika’s most successful and essential line – says volumes in itself, and with an experienced groove navigator at the helm, house fans know what to expect. And that is simply the brightest beats around, superbly segued and then vacuum-sealed for long-lasting, body-flexing effect…


House Afrika - Deep House Sounds 7 (Mixed by Vinny Da Vinci)

Fka Mash, a DJ/Producer/Electronic Music Artist from Soweto, started making music at the age of 12 on a music production software he accidentally discovered on his friend’s laptop. In 2011 he had his first release under Baainar Records. The releases continued moving on to the most reputable deep house music label in South Africa, Stay True Sounds, a track out on Get Physical and a recent remix for Jimpster’s imprint Freerange Records. He has gathered solid support from the likes of Black Coffee, Jullian Gomes, Vinny Da Vinci, Jimpster, Lars Behrenroth and Sebastien Leger to name a few.
He has performed on some of the most sought after stages & venues in South Africa, from intimate gatherings such as Kitchener’s & Great Dane in Braamfontein, Living Room Jozi, to some of the most prolific events in his respective sound, namely, We House Sundays, Deep Town Jozi, CTEMF, Rocking the Daisies and Deep In The City.

A collaboration of music transpired on Spotify with Zito Mowa and Krippsoulisc to give rise to Garden Groove Music's latest pulsating release - Goat Stew. This power hitting, neck breaking track brings forth the versatile sound brewing in Limpopo. It's a celestial alignment of two contrasting sounds, Zito with his scuffed house and Krippsoulisc with his welcoming offering of techy dub.

The three track EP features W.N.N.E and China Charmeleon on remix duties. Their contribution to Goat Stew beautifully wraps this EP in delicate sounds and packages it for listeners to explore all spheres of music.

On the second track, W.N.N.E takes the listener on a blissful, eyes closed adventure of sound. Seamlessly getting you to float through every beat heard in the track, this remix builds so effortlessly to the point of climax and releases you gently into a state of deep house hypnosis.

And finally, on the third track, China Charmeleon adds an integral element of cheeky dub. This remix of Goat Stew is the track that will see dancefloors coming to life, hands in the air, in appreciation for the sounds brewing in South Africa.

In summation, Goat Stew is what happens when music producers come together with their unique sound and create without any boundaries and expectations.
