Matthias Meyer and Ryan Davis re-link for another superb outing on Watergate.

If you know, you know. Matthias Meyer and Ryan Davis make sweet music together, like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once made babes. Tunes that melt you into the floor and roll dancefloors from Tulum to Tblisi. Their debut collaboration ‚Hope‘ was a dawning highlight of 2017 and Beatport Deep House no.1, while ‚Love Letters from Sicily‘, was a lustrous late summer anthem, reinforcing their knack for the sublime.

Their latest opus ‚Crying Juno / Cafuné‘ begins where its predecessors left off, taking life after Matthias and Ryan exchanged ideas back and forth over a period of months before finally settling in the former’s Holzmarkt studio in Berlin to finish giving the tracks their form. Together they’ve crafted a masterful yin and yang between joy and melancholy. ‚Crying Juno‘ is the buoyant leader, propelled by an insistent groove and ‘80s synths, both bittersweet and undeniably uplifting. ‚Cafuné‘ continues with the orchestral themes that gave us ‚Hope‘, as sweeping strings and keys swell over a bed of delicate percussion, gradually building into a delicious groove.

The 204th release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue imprint welcomes Jiminy Hop & Ilya Gerus to the label with a nice two-track original EP. Jiminy is a producer from Gorno-Altaysk, Russia, and released on labels such as The Soundgarden & Balkan Connection.
Ilya already released before on the label and big brother label Sound Avenue.

Sweden’s Jonas Rathsman present’s “No Surprise EP”, the follow up to his debut on Mobilee “Draumzer”. 

The smooth and somewhat hypnotic “No Surprise” delivers a percussive depth that will delight dancefloors and listeners alike. The haunting vocal story sets the scene for the rest of the EP, a standout addition to the melodic landscape of 2020.

“Fading Memories” has a refreshing air of late night adventure and party spirit, much needed in these current times. The kind of track you might expect from an artist championed by Pete Tong and who has remixed the likes of Bob Moses, Disclosure, London Grammar, Sam Smith and more; having released on such stalwart labels as Dynamic, KX, Crosstown Rebels and his own ELEMENTS.

It’s not hard to imagine that “Uno” comes direct from his Gothenburg studio complex built using mostly repurposed wood from the forest, which was featured by Fact Magazine and DJ Mag. It invokes a sense of connection and deeper meaning, a sensuous soundscape reminiscent of the light through trees; bringing the EP to a special close.

Following he release of Toshio Matsuura 2014 Blue Note Project "HEX", French-Japanese record label MENACE, run by producer and DJ Midori (Menace), comes back with another installment, this time focusing on the sessions of "Hello To The Wind", a Joe Chamber ballad issued on the first album, featuring folk vocalist Grey Reverend (Bonobo, Cinematic Orchestra). In addition to the two unreleased takes - the instrumental "Z Groove", and the ambiant "Starry Version" - Matsuura-san and Mido invites Paris-based producer Hugo LX to rework the song, giving birth to a bass and piano driven electronic "Purple Version », and a aerial, jazzy-house "Turquoise Version" starring Kansas City trumpeter Hermon Mehari.

The series will serve as the hub of our long-term artist relationships, fostering a collective of forward-thinking and bountiful producers, and providing a platform for exploration.

Rounding out the inaugural Tales of Romance, we have a man near and dear to the label team, Maaruo. The Montrealer has been working his way through amazing productions over the last year, including his remix for Budakid’s Quixotic on XYZ. He has some top drawer projects in store, and we’re lucky to have him on board.
