The andhim boys have been close friends of our family for nearly a decade, when we brought them to the US for the first time and they rocked a Brooklyn rooftop dancefloor with their infectious Super House sound. They are two of the most talented, hilarious, exciting and humble people in electronic music -- it's an honor to host this milestone radio show for a fresh new mix from the boys from Cologne. andhim are a German DJ and producer duo consisting of Simon Haehnel & Tobias Müller. Since their founding year 2010, they have published over 60 songs and remixes. They have worked with artists such as Theophilus London, Diplo, Hogni Egilson, Groove Armada and Elderbrook and made it to number 31 on the German Single Charts with their remix for Wine & Chocolates. 

The two describe their sound as “super house” - their very own definition of electronic music that, whether melodic or deep, always bears the typical andhim fingerprint. In addition to the musical component, the two have placed great emphasis on a strong visual concept in their representation as an artist, which is reflected in countless music videos. They always present themselves with a wink,
without sabotaging the seriousness of their art.

With over 100 international shows annually and residencies in New York, Los Angeles, London and Melbourne, they are among the most successful DJ duos in the scene. Due to their past as turntablists, their skills on the decks are unmatched. As part of the 'Noisy Stylus' turntable crew, Tobias became a multiple ITF and DMC champion and had a lasting influence on the scene at the time.

In 2016 they founded their own label Superfriends Records, a label that captures the pair’s charm and ebullience; one that has moved from gentle eclecticism through infinite fun into a refined and contagiously unique electronic sound. It is an outlet for the duo’s most ambitious ideas. An independent exercise in only the finest studio output from themselves to those that inspire, influence and impress.

Andhim have over the last decade cultivated an exceptionally loyal fan base of musical lovers and peers alike; that continue to crave the German pairs musical agility and action packed forays.

In 2020 their documentary film "Miles To Go" was released, a road trip along the west coast of America, which shows a deep dive into the lives of the two on tour and how they work with each other. The documentary has been shown at several international film festivals so far and has won two coveted prizes: “Best Score” (Swindon Independent Film Fest, UK) and “Best Documentary Feature” (San Diego IKFF, USA). The music in the film was written exclusively by the two and released at the same time as the film as a soundtrack album "Miles To Go".

For the last EP of 2021, Curiosity Music takes off with Hélène Brahem’s 

Far from being a newcomer in the French electronic music scene, Hélène Brahem, who first evolved under the alias Babylene, has been a musician, DJ, and producer for more than 15 years.
Hélène started her musical journey playing the harp for more than a decade and has been a rising talent since her inception. 

Recognizable by her musical style, Hélène is renowned for creating hypnotic sounds that are both melodic and energetic. Her first track ‘‘Airspace,’’ released in 2011 on MINIMALMINUTS, remained the label’s best-seller for months. She has also played in some of the best electro clubs in France like Batofar, Nouveau Casino, and BT59 to name a few. Her musical influences include the likes of UMEK, Bass Kleph, and Oliver Huntemann.

For our last release of the year, we are incredibly pleased to present Hélène Brahem’s EP ‘’Bird’’. For this EP, Hélène composed three original tracks, mixing melancholic and enveloping sounds paired with a dark and ominous atmosphere. The first track and namesake of the EP, ‘’Bird’’ starts slow and heady, then transitions into a colorful and contemplative universe, with melodic marimba lines running throughout. ‘‘Automn’’, the second track, offers trippy and vaporous synth layers balanced with sharp metallic sounds — transporting us to an intense meditative state. Last but not least, ‘’Wood’’ is the somber track that will push you headfirst into uncharted mental contemplations.
Powerful crescendos lead to spatial drops, a myriad of sounds surrounds us, exciting our senses. This whole EP is an invitation to let go and be guided by the music.

Three remixes complete this EP. Only 22 years old, Raphael Hofman is a Dutch producer based in Berlin who started DJing and organizing events at the age of 16. Know for his deep and dark soundscapes, surrounded by different rhythmic structures, he offers a dancey techno house remix of ‘‘Wood’’ that will leave no one unmoved. On his side, Skøllaris spoils us with two wonderful remixes of ‘’Wood.’’ Skøllaris is a French producer sharing his life  between Paris and Berlin. He has built a mesmerizing universe where the harmony of intense low frequencies and moving melodies tell an epic story. In his first remix, he takes us into the abyss with acid sounds and an unapologetic bassline. 
In the second remix, the Late-Night Mix, the artist reworked the track to make it a techno dancefloor banger, ready to burn down the house with brutal drops and a crazy bassline to match.

Nick Scofield continues to craft a sound of his own. Centered around a backbone of sturdy grooves, he explores realms of melodies both retro and futuristic. With a pair of appearances on our Tales of Romance series, as well as the timeless Highway 1 EP gracing TOR last year, Scofield has built a hearty foundation in the early stages of his journey. As we venture into the new year, we are thrilled to have Scofield back on board for his second full project on the imprint - the Foggy Night EP.

The project’s namesake opens the show in scintillating fashion. Drenched in percussive persistence, rhythmic rotations instantly frame the groove on Foggy Night. Eastern strings provide a lush melody, while ominous synthetics elevate energy throughout this heady cut from Scofield.

Zagroutah keeps the organic rhythms flowing, while a classic house groove nudges us towards the light. Afro-tinged influences come to the fore from the early stages, while an electro-synth hook surprises the senses. A delightful flute performance is the cherry on top of this one, which cohesively checks all the boxes; a tune for the true groovers.

Closing out this sumptuous trio is Opulence. Low-slung drums get the vibe rolling, as Nick harnesses deviant deep tones through punchy synth stabs and a tripped-out vocal chop. Look no further, this EP succinctly summarizes the Scofield sound.

For the tenth reference, Xarma Music brings the Israeli producer Ori B. with his new brand release "Dreams EP". The release is composed by two original pieces titled "Living The Dream" and "When The Dreams Come True" that will be released on February 11th. 

The artist presents a melodic sound shaped by piano and arpeggiated synthesizer motifs followed by a constant groove. "When The Dreams Come True" presents a deeper vision while, "Living The Dream" has a more tech-house and progressive influence.
