"Sleep Stream was part of the first release of my Yoga Disco side project & duo Languages back in...2016! Quickly after releasing it on my good friend's label Days Of Being Wild - along with a pretty funky music video, which I dare you to undust if you wanna have a laugh! - Eskimo Recordings got in touch with us and asked us to hear more. This release got my foot in the door of this bigger label, and surely opened many other doors behind, after we released our Franz Matthews x Local Suicide collab EP 'Meditation / Tutan Jamon' on Eskimo as well. Languages sort of collapsed shortly after unfortunately, but we still have some demos laying around, and Ed and I have been talking about maybe releasing them sometime soon, so...who knows what's coming up ;) "

Based in Berlin, the versatile producer, DJ and live act Franz Matthews is known for crafting groove-heavy Indie Dance, funk-infused House, and dreamy club psychedelia with emotional depth. Built for cosmic dancefloors and mental travelers of the present moment, his sound blends worlds together, while always exploring new sonic territories, and always adding something meaningful to the experience. 

Born in France and raised between cultures, Franz’s musical journey began with classical piano, guitar, and jazz studies, later channeling those foundations into psychedelic and progressive rock bands and, eventually, electronic music. Inspired by acts like LCD Soundsystem and Soulwax, he fused his love of analog warmth and hypnotic rhythms into a signature style that bridges eras and genres -  always guided by artistic integrity, strong commitment, and a deep attention to sonic detail, all while keeping a healthy dose of humor and self-irony.

Whether through his own HIFI/LOFI Records imprint or releases on Eskimo Recordings, Feines Tier, AEON, ROAM, Heimlich… Franz’s productions consistently weave narrative, nostalgia, and groove. His acclaimed remix for Aisha Badru has amassed over 5 million streams on Spotify, while collaborating and getting remixed by the likes of Aera, Chaim, Michael Mayer, The Organism, and Local Suicide have reinforced his position as a genre-blurring tastemaker.
