'Following up on FAR&HIGH’s well received 'Asperatus' EP, Drubon comes up with a non-less impressive EP called 'Snareman'. The fresh duo from Kharkov deliver a smashing 4 track EP including a remix from Diynamic’s very own Andy Bros.
 
This release was born at the peak of isolation. During this difficult period, "our tracks were created to convey the rhythms of joy and sincere kindness in everyone's heart.“ Drubon says "but it was also a total experiment“. A successful one! All tracks were created on a positive note - cheerful, optimistic, energetically powerful.

'Snareman' is a bass and arpeggio dominated driver that rolls along until it’s dropping in a massive melodic break, but grooving not less effective after. 
 
On 'Silhouette' vocals were driven through the vocoder, while punchy kick and swinging percussion bring on a steady groove. The energy will catch you immediately. 

'Rabbit' sounds sharp riveted, but has a lovely melody that is accompanied by an obsessive, octave-hopping bass - like an elusive rabbit! 

Andy Bros’ re-interprets the 'Rabbi'“ in a less jumping but not less flowing version. His Dark Side remix is filled with a dark love pitched voice and synth, while a catchy beat also sometimes drives his version back into „light“ in form of the strings highlights that are followed by 80ies inspired synth chords.

The finest Italo-disco record ever made.

"Take a Chance" is an untouchable example of Italo-disco's sweet-spot—the qualities it possessed over it's American forefather. "Take a Chance" is club-ready, and not in the ostentatious sense that the best of Studio 54's floorfillers were. It is lithe and acidic, bearing as much of a relation to the squelching galactic visions of early techno that would soon be built in Detroit as it does the disco that came first. In its own perhaps primitive way, it bangs, and throbs, it demands to be moved to. In terms of easing the track into a DJ set, "Take a Chance" is structurally perfect, sitting around 120 BPM, ready to be weaponized by everyone across place and time from the hands of Nicky Siano all the way through to Teki Latex.

For whatever reason, in the case of this one track, shooting for the past meant reaching that place dance music so rarely does. The alchemy of something bizarre, ballistic and eternal. Even now, Mr Flagio sounds like the future.

In the words of the artist...

‘During sessions for my upcoming track 'Vosferbank'(On Sinchi). I was playing around with basslines and found myself playing the familiar sequence. Then decided to sample the track itself. Using that atmospheric FM donk sound that later became so ubiquitous in Drum & Bass and Garage, I decided to build a new mix around it. I sourced the Kirk samples from the original Star Trek film, replicated the strings and put it altogether in one afternoon. I can actually remember first hearing 'We are the Creator' on Colin Faver's Abstrakt Dance show on Kiss FM back in 1993. Hosting alongside Colin Dale, Faver's show was a window in that period's bold experimentation, with all sorts of techno, breakbeat hardcore, jungle, techno, and trance being played in the same evening. Alex Hazzard and Jack Smooth's track in particular always stuck with me because of their use of space, in those interludes between the frenetic syncopated rhythms that were beginning to morph into the emerging darker jungle sound. In fact, Alex Reece was the engineer on this one, and he would later stamp his own trademark as D&B, that had its first wave of mainstream popularity in the mid-90s. I always really enjoy remixing other artists and this 27 year old classic is a rare treat that deserves another look'.
