Dub Techno Session | 108 | Sad Birds Still Fly

My next guest is DJ Joshua from Portugal, who brings a solid dubby installment with many wellknown appreciated producers from the scene in it. DJ Joshua started mixing around 1994/1995. At that time, he also collaborated on local radio shows on electronic music and performed at parties organized together with friends. In those days, while following the beginning and growth of the dance scene in Portugal, his interest in this type of sound and in the development of this culture became increasingly greater.
As his taste for these sounds and the art of djing was always intense, after being away from "mixes" for a long period for various reasons, he returned in 2007 through the creation of an online podcast under the name " Floating Beats Sessions”. This podcast ended up being extended and giving rise to two radio shows broadcast weekly on several online radios across the globe that cover different genres of electronic music.
Nowadays he regularly collaborates as a guest DJ on several podcast series around the world and maintains some series of mixes designed by himself for specific genres.
In 2023 he decided to explore the world of production in more depth way and founded in January of 2024 JFLM Recordings to release his own tracks made by himself through different aliases (Joshua Marian / K-Joshua / Joshua Fernand / Joshua Onairam). He also has several Eps released by labels such as Soul SND, Crossfade Sounds, Piranha Siberia Dub, Slope Point, Techenie Records, Moiss Music, Bassment Tapes, HDRLimit, Back To The Beat Rec, Electric Eden Records, Groove Tag, SUEVI Rec, Microgarden Lab and more new stuff coming out soon.
Always everything made with a lot of soul, a lot of commitment and love for electronic music.

DJ Balaton continues to carve out his part in the puzzle with a fresh 4-tracker on LQL <3. With a nostalgic nod to Frankfurt, the producer shows that it doesn’t take much, just the right touch, to install a badass groove. Spacious arrangements and carefully placed synths turn the EP into an echo of a different time in the club.

The title track “Back To The Mood” orbits around that secret open-air energy - one of those full-circle cuts for the crew. You are missing the water, baby is all there is to say about “Flow Key”, rolling away at 127, disguised but with energy. “Reso 02” is the track we all wanted to finish but never did, grooving along with restrained intensity, shaping the EP into something personal and unique. Closing off, “Push Yourself” is Geoff White meets Herbert in a club-ready outfit.

Never afraid to go too deep, YumVee (a.k.a Akhil M V) triggers a joyous feedback loop that infects the dancefloor. Having grown up on a combination of funk, electronica and synth-infused 80s music, along with a deep love for psychedelia, YumVee ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all pieces of music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks; all on top of pronounced foot-shuffling house & disco beats. He loves to take the partygoers through a rollercoaster of emotions, via an electrifying dancefloor journey of exciting peaks and deep, cerebral lows.
