A success in Proton Music's recent history, Kastis Torrau and Donatello's "Genesis" EP has already seen remixes from the likes of Barry Jamieson and Darin Epsilon. As Particles now takes up the mantle, two new versions of "Ida" from industry mainstays continue the story.

Gavin Griffin is an artist with a rich and growing portfolio to his name through a variety of monikers, not least his GMJ production alter-ego. "With an innate passion for deep emotive electronic music", Griffin has found a niche for his distinctive sound propelling him to the upper echelons of the underground dance industry with his work signed to such blue-chip imprints as Vapour, Balkan Connection and Proton Music. With each passing release, the GMJ name gains greater momentum, his work supported by no lesser lights than Hernan Cattaneo, Fiord and Eelke Kleijn.

A growing number of remix credits have sat proudly next to the GMJ name as Dousk, Oliver Lieb and Gai Barone have all received the Australian's treatment. A catalogue of original material has already found its way onto the Particles imprint through the likes of 2014's "Forgotten "Wisdom" and November 2016's "Intimation" EPs as have remixes of James Monro, Deepfunk and East Café. Now returning to the label, the GMJ remix of "Ida" is an impressive affair, intelligently resonating the melodic themes of the original with clever use of the vocal phrasing so fundamental to the Lithuanian pair's work. Evolving elegantly, a new riff eases into play, giving a new dimension to the track in combination with rich, deep bass line. Textured pads and subtle additional production material make for an impressive affair.

Superstar French producer, Rick Pier O'Neil has been at the vanguard of the dance scene for over three decades. A man with cast-iron credentials to his name with remixes for Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer and Lenny Kravitz, O'Neil has charted a path few can match. Owner of the RPO and Garbage Records imprint, he has continued his assault on the underground dance scene with vigour and passion, supported by Digweed, Tenaglia and Cox. Similarly, production partner, Janko Dragovic, has seen considerable success with his Desaturate production moniker. With tracks such as "Inundate" appearing on Armin Van Buuren's "A State of Trance" compilation, the Desaturate name continues to make waves across the underground and mainstream scenes, in conjunction with additional music signed to Balkan Connection, Clinique and Cid Inc.'s Replug.

Joining forces, Rick Pier O'Neil and Desaturate have found themselves regular contributors to the Particles imprint. Impressive original material in the shape of 2015's "Spirals" and 2016's "Crouch/Cursed" EPs have formed the backbone of their output as the pair now return for a second remix after 2015's reworking of Danny Lloyd. Taking a typically robust approach to their craft, the Rick Pier O'Neil and Desaturate remix of "Ida" bristles with dynamic rhythmic joy as shuffling hi-hats and strong kick combine with a new grooved bass line that anchors the seven-minute offering. Torrau and Donatello's vocal cut is presence throughout as are a raft of cleverly entwined original components combined with sumptuous pads and additional production material, give a subtle and nuanced flavour to their remix which is sure to attract much attention.

With remixes of epic proportions from GMJ, Rick Pier O'Neil and Desaturate, "Ida" continues to be a rich source of inspiration.

Rising progressive artist Andromedha first appeared on our imprint in 2016, courtesy of Shingo Nakamura's mix on our "Only Silk 04" compilation. That specific underground gem, "Watching The Red Clouds Passing By," is now paired with the brand new "The Hike," both of which officially comprise the Polish talent's debut EP with Silk Music.

The title cut kicks off with a relaxed house groove, which is enveloped in an equally chilled, if not foreboding, after-hours atmosphere. Subtly melodic pads begin to emerge and color the midrange, teasing the radiant themes to arrive soon thereafter. In the main break, the arrangement crescendoes to a thrilling climax, when a rich and resonant new bassline cuts through the mix and gorgeous synth lines euphorically seize the listener.

The B-side, "The Hike," is a thrilling club-friendly alternative to its release counterpart. An uptempo groove and hypnotic lead arpeggio create a rapturous soundscape in the early going. The more "vintage" melodic progressive arrangement takes an unexpected turn in the main break, upon the arrival of a festival-flavored lead synth theme. The jubilant drop to follow strikes a perfect balance between the classical and modern influences of trance & progressive.

The Continental Breakfast used to be known as "Devine Sundays" at Zone.  Those Sunday mornings were world renowned for its dark atmosphere, full on crowd, madness and signature "Zone" sound!  Many of Toronto's top djs and producers were and still are regular residents.

In homage to the old school vibe and for the Zone crew who made it what it was, me and my crew (Charles Pavia, Miss Raquel, Clubstan, Erin and Sean Star) put together the Just Like The Old Days party: All Comfort Zone classics All Day.  Dec 18th 2011 was the 2nd annual event and featured me plus Addy and 2003 - 2009 resident J-Prez.  The club was rammed, the vibe was ridiculous, smiles abound, arms in the air the entire morning and a sense of dare, mischief and nonsense running rampant... Just Like The Old Days..

I had asked "What is your favourite Comfort Zone old school track?" and I got 364 submissions!  So this set, is for all of you, put together by all of you.  This is Part 1 (of 3).

This time we have the pleasure to welcome on Lapsus Music, Stereo Montreal's residents Nicola Torriero and Marciano. These two guys of Italian origin make their first appearance on the label with a groovy tech house tune filled with a deep sub-bass line and a catchy vocal hook that rolls over the track.
On the remix first in line is Spanish master and great friend Chus that put his Iberican touch on the groove.
