Fresh off their debut Coldie EP on Apparel, the French duo step into our 261th episode of the Apparel Radio series with a mix that feels like their music: somewhere between Paris nights and a Chicago basement, equal parts elegance and raw groove. It’s house with character, deep, and cool. Tom & Antoine don’t need to shout to be heard; they just set the vibe and let it ride.

Waves Within is a genre-blending triumph from Mexican producers Luca Ferrand and Selva in which they serve up sounds that evolve through deep house, broken beat, jazz, nu-disco and hip-hop. Opener 'Bona Fide' pairs dusty jazz and disco-house with a slick hip-hop switch and some superbly sunny melodies. 'Zarapes (After the Rain)' marries Mexican folk and broken beat, then 'Back To That Thang' twists jazz guitar into a genre-fluid ride and the title track evokes tropical 90s house. Closer 'Lynx' is a shapeshifting house cut with bulbous bass and sophisticated sound design that really brings it to life.

After his 2024 album The Spirit Continues, Tilman returns with Altered Spaces, a tightly focused four-track EP that distills his signature sound into a concise, club-ready format.

Opening track Make My Body Move sets the tone with soulful vocals, warm piano stabs, a rolling bassline and a breezy Balearic vibe. The Last Resort deepens the mood, layering pads, organ hits and shimmering strings over a steady, driving groove.

Rounding out the EP are two reimagined cuts from The Spirit Continues. Dance Department (Spirit Mix) smooths out the rougher edges of the original, adding organ stabs and a more melodic sensibility. Need It (Dance Dub) transforms the track into a softer, dub-tinged version - hypnotic, restrained and full of subtle movement.

Altered Spaces is classic Tilman: warm, understated house music that's rich in detail and groove - made for dancers and deep listeners alike.

PREMIERE: Tilman - The Last Resort [Pleasant Systems]

After a feature on last year’s VA Family Affair comp, Tokyo-based producer Yuu Udagawa drops her first solo EP on Razor-N-Tape. With releases on Freerange and Compost under her belt, Yuu has been developing a subtle and moody deep house sound that she displays across the 3 original songs of the Urban Physicality EP. Each track vibrates with dark chordal textures, pulsating drums and chopped vocal samples, beautifully layered to develop and slowly build. To round out the record, Takuya Matsumoto turns in a throbbing late-nite remix of the EP’s title track, with a tougher drum profile, cavernous bass and masterful sound design.

Hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico, Hotmood is a DJ and producer with a vivid passion for grooves has been quietly shaping the landscape of disco-inflected electronic music. Drawing from boogie, funk, deep house, and vintage 70’s sonic textures, his work crafts an embrace of dance floor euphoria and warm nostalgia. Rich bass, shimmering synth lines, retro vocal chops, and rhythms that swing this is the sound palette he uses to bridge past and present.

Hotmood is known for balancing finely chopped samples and old‐school feel with crisp modern production. Whether it’s editing disco loops, laying down deep disco house, or venturing into nu-disco territory, his tracks manage to retain emotional soul as much as they deliver groove. With releases on labels such as Nervous, Starcreature, Kolour, De La Groove, Large Music, plus his own imprint Discoweey, he has established both credibility and creative control over his output. Notably, his Disco Flava EP brought together originals like “Brazilian Groove” and remixes by artists like Felipe Gordon.

Touring and DJing around Mexico, USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, he has earned the respect of audiences for his ability to read the crowd while maintaining his signature sound. Hotmood continues to push disco and funk influences forward into electronic music without losing heart. Each track is an invitation: to move, to feel, and to reconnect with the timeless joy of groove.
