In this interview we talk about his roots, the electronic music scene in the early 90's Berlin, his relationship with Richie Hawtin, Cabinet Records, the process that eventually materialized as the new album and of course, the excellent guest mix he did for us!

The Loon sample mix! Well, it almost is. Got an idea to base a mix around the infamous sample. but ran out of tracks and wanted to avoid the obvious ones. Instead, went with a tropical, dreamy mood that the first few selections set. A few oldies. a couple of reissues and a handful of very recent releases filled with lush pads and superb bouncy basslines - feels like 90's! T

"The Oort Cloud is believed to be a thick bubble of icy debris that surrounds our solar system. This distant, predicted cloud may extend a third of the way from our Sun to the next star—somewhere between 1,000 and 100,000 astronomical units. We don't know exactly where it begins and ends."

Syncopated rhythms, dreamy synth textures, otherworldly noises and heavy basslines. I had planned a more straightforward mix but this just happened. The peak is No Moon's (@nomoontrax) "Acid IX", a track that blends everything you heard 60 mins before into cocktail of beautiful melodies served on the side of distorted kick patterns, a real masterpiece. Love it.

Looking back, 2018 was personally an enlightening year - it brought back the joy in music I had been missing for a long time. A big shout out to the crew who made it happen - you know who you are! And of course huge thanks to my lovely better half for the endless support.

If you're a long time DR listener you might notice that I'm drifting to a direction that is not strictly house music anymore. But I think there's a continuum in a series of deep emotive electronic music mixes.

Deeprhythms #56 'Oort Cloud' by Timo

The re-invention of a song from the Setswana FolkTale titled "Tjuele"

The story is about a young girl who lives with her family. The family is terrorized by a villainous character who lives next door. The family decides to move out of their house, but their daughter 
"Tjuele" decides to stay. Her mother instructs her to keep the doors locked at all times, she also then creates a secret song that she sings at the door for Tjuele to open the door for her , when she comes by to drop off food.

Dreamy, deep, bubbly & pulsating space-age electronics for days & nights when you need to come down safely and take things easier. 

Recorded on a Sunday afternoon while going through new music. I recognised a dreamy theme and had a go at a little improvised set. Enjoy the music!
