Topshelf is back for 2022 and where better to begin than with Essex born, Melbourne based soundstress, MEG 4x4.

Championing Australian talent with a beautiful genre bending journey through electronic world music, MEG’s attention to detail with her faultless track selection and seamless mixing brings forth some of the most inspiring soundscapes we’ve been blessed enough to enjoy on the show, combining elements of ambience, bass, house, psychedelic disco, 80’s inspired electronica and more, this ones a real treat.

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better mix to return with so without further ado here are the forever captivating sounds of MEG 4x4.

Starting off as co-founder of Zugvögel Festival and the Conartism Collective, the Berlin (via-Bremen) Mystigrix has since built a strong reputation as a DJ and a producer. I met Cyril a few years back in Helsinki (what a friendly person) and I'm extremely glad to have him as a guest here of DR. Check out his work on Berlin Bass Collective and especially the collab with Paris Brithledge on Thirty Year Records, tasty stuff!

Featuring tracks from both Comma Traxx and side project ToneShift, this mix celebrates the current and future of where the Comma sound aims to explore.

Bringing in Tapes #61 is London-based musician Primrose, who creates spellbinding, colourful electronic music. He blends bouncy club focused rhythms and the other-worldly soundscapes of dreampop, film soundtracks, and shoegaze, culminating into a fresh and distinctive sound that he affectionately refers to as ‘Blade Runner Techno’. 

As a DJ, Primrose is drawn to dramatic, emotional sounds and storming rhythmic transmissions from across the spectrum of electronic music and beyond, weaving between house, techno, 80s New Wave, post-punk & EBM.

The energy and freedom of the night...
The song "Locomia," by the group Locomia, is a vibrant celebration of the freedom and energy of Ibiza nightlife. The repetition of words like "Disco, Ibiza, Loco Mía" and the emphasis on themes like fashion, sun, sea, and sex show that the song seeks to convey the island's relaxed and festive atmosphere. The group, which began as a collective of fashion designers, brings to its lyrics and rhythm the idea of transforming the dance floor into a space for free expression, where everyone can let loose and have fun without judgment.
