Marie's album "Andersworld" (2020) released by the label Broque in March was the second in a series of albums based on the poems of Scottish poet Robert Louis Stevenson. Marie's conceptual thinking and her craft as a modern classical composer allow her to congenially translate his lyrics into a modern
electronic language, which is influenced by techno and electronica.

"Andersworld" was already an extremely multi-faceted work of art, which combines club music, storytelling and a curious approach to classical and electronic instruments in a virtuoso way, resulting in an album that always rests harmoniously in itself.

As if the influences and facets weren't diverse enough, the follow-up Andersworld Remix album takes that to the next level: across eleven remixes, eight artists stemming from a close yet extended circle of friends sharpen the electronic and club-oriented dimension of Maries songs.

In a time where dancing with others is forbidden, and most clubs in Europe remain closed, we felt it was time to shift gears. The fourth edition of our compilation series SOMEWHERE is best enjoyed lying down.15 tracks that will chill you out, put you at ease and comfort you in this difficult year.

It will not surprise you there is a strong Dutch presence on SOMEWHERE IV. Machine master Mattheis (best known for his stunning work on Nous’ Klaer) showers us with beautiful arpeggio’s that seem to stem straight from his modular. Fader from Borneo (but actually from Rotterdam) takes a much different approach, with long floating chords that move up and down like the surge near the shore after a violent storm. And then there is the sample wizardry by the experienced producer Love Over Entropy, who tackles analogue sounds and lets them run rounds in ever smaller concentric circles. It’s as hypnotic as it is intriguing.

There is something for everyone on SOMEWHERE IV. As long as you’re cool with absent kickdrums or aggressive hi hats. In fact, there is room for a kick. On the wonderful wonky 'Endure', by Utrecht based knob tweaker Vela Uniform. It’s one of the highlights of the album and it reminds us of the heydays of Warp’s Artificial Intelligence Series. Yes, it’s that good.

Another gem is 'Sometimes' by Machines of Loving Grace, an alter ego of the veteran dj & producer Eric de Man. He takes us to a nearly deserted rain forest, where birds and insects seem to go around in slow motion. De Man made this melancholic highlight more than 13 years ago. It clearly stood the test of time.

Ambient music has been around long before Brian Eno gave the genre it’s name. But over the last few years and thanks to a string of strong releases by artists like Huerco S, Kara Lis Coverdale and Kaitlyin Aurelia Smith, the genre is on the rise again. SOMEWHERE IV is the perfect antidote for stressful times and the sorrow of a closed down nightlife.

They met in 2011 in a Crossfit box in the Capital; Madrid is his habitual residence. Every time they meet to train in the box and have the music equipment at their disposal, they revolutionize the environment by squeezing the speakers to the maximum with their influences: RÜFÜS DU SOL, Keinemusic, BLOND: ISH, Adriatique, Tale Of Us, Los Suruba, Edu Imbernon, Âme, DIXON… it's a show!

Your addiction to BPM begins in childhood and even now, it increases every day. They decide to set up a Home Studio in a spare room at S: lin's house. They start laying the first brick in November 2019 and a month later they are already creating subatomic atmospheres in the temple that sees the #technoflipflop born. They coin this term because they decide to put grass in the study and promise that they will enter barefoot or with flip flops. From the term in English, they begin to get tangled up with the nonsense of TECHNO FLIP FLOP and not finding a musical genre in which to pigeonhole, TECH HOUSE, DEEP HOUSE, TECHNO, HOUSE ... they name their own genre, a word for producers and DJs that are in the same position and advocate for fresh techno, warm house, with Afro touches, Caribbean sparkles, palm trees, pineapples, coconuts, sun, beach, good vibes and above all, flip flops!

The duo's name is because they really like peanut butter, they drink it in tandem with coffee like the world is ending, that's why they decide to call themselves PEANUT BUTTER.

In their publications on social networks they often use the following phrase: “to the rhythm of TECHNO FLIP FLOP, we hope you will dance our sessions and crack the soles of your feet like the San Andrés fault”.

AVELAIÑA RECORDS is a label created in 2020 ad hoc for them in order to give them audiovisual technical support and publish their sets and tracks.

2020 was great! An exciting, a remarkable year. Well, maybe not for everyone. Not for most people. Admittedly. But as so often, the perspective is decisive. And the latter is completely different when, for example, you become a father for the first time - like our old label homie Less. Then everything else is Less (sic!) important, no matter what is happening in the world.

And so this year's Advent podcast is also an ode to all the mothers and fathers of this world, and their newborn children anyway. Less, who made a name for himself this year with classy releases on Freude Am Tanzen and Destroy All Monsters, does nothing Less (sic!!) on this 2 hour DJ mix than to throw the boundaries of the playable overboard, exuberant like new fathers are, but he does so with a lot of warmth and affection. It's a personal thank you and bow to the young mother, and, last but not Less so, to music history in some way or another. The consequence: Limahl and Einstuerzende Neubauten, Jimmy Sommerville and Suicide, OMD and Todd Terrje hand in hand…congratulations! All of them. Everyone. Always. 2021 will be great too. For sure.
