Which Genre Styles have made a special impact on you through the years, and can you tell us why? 
-In high school I heard drum and bass for the first time and it was like a new universe for me… I started listening to very heavy drum and bass. Today I believe that this genre, in its energy, is the highest level of electronic music. I'm not ready to be a producer or DJ in this style, but I still love this music very much.

Can you tell us the story about your moniker Symbol G?
-In fact, I thought about changing my nickname many times… Since school I have been interested in conspiracy theories, and the g symbol is closely associated with the Freemasons. Now I no longer like this nickname, but in order to change my name I need to register a new name again in string services. I came to terms with the idea that it doesn’t matter what name I write music under, the main thing is what I want to convey. 

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of working with music?
-For me time disappears the moment when I’m creating music, and all the surrounding negative factors vanish which make my mind clearer. The only thing I don’t like is that I’m often very lazy, despite the fact that I enjoy it.

Do you have a network of DJs / Artists, and how do you support each other?
-For a long time I wrote music with my childhood friend, and in many ways I started creating sound thanks to him. He uses different monikers, and when making Dub techno it’s Toishy Koshimi. However, I recently recorded two joint tracks with A. Romanets, one of them was released on the wonderful Ecoul SND label. Later I signed a contract with Beat Visions and my track was remixed by Resilient. The Dub Techno Producer Francesco Tamburrano and I have collaborated and we’ve made remixes for each other. Also worked with Seabra Monkey.

Could you tell us about any of your upcoming releases?
-Of those that have already been precisely agreed upon, one of my tracks will be released in September on the Mexican label Permafost Visual. There will also be a release on Ecoul SND in that same month. In November, my collab with Francesco Tamburrano will be released on the same Ecoul SND. Also, we have already agreed on a release on the beautiful Crossfade sound label - but the release date is not yet known.

'Gloomy Avenue' opens the collection with swirling chords over a strong, purposeful beat. The busy atmosphere, enhanced by crackling sound effects, creates an audio analogy of looking through old photos. This dominant, dub techno opus sets a compelling tone for the rest of the album. Dietrich Klassen, born in 1981 in Central Asia and emigrated to Germany at the age of 12, the creative process has been a big part of me since childhood, visual arts, poetry and later music. In the 2000s, I was drawn to electronic music, festivals, clubs, a passion for techno and house music emerged and at some point, DJing followed. After studying engineering, I became interested in sound design with more knowledge of synth construction and signal processing, and from 2015 onwards I started making my own productions by learning Ableton Live and music theory. The love for Dub Techno came late at this time. The first release in the techno underground scene followed in 2018, followed by others in the genres of melodic techno and house. From 2020 I concentrated more on Dub Techno and Deep Atmospheric Techno music, releases came out on Apnea Label, Kopoc Label, Slope Point, Insectorama, Superordinate Dub Waves, spclnch and Piranha Siberia Dub, as well as others. Last year, I also had further releases on hello strange, Mixcult, Greyscale and Lucidflow.
