Lost Records have drafted in Hector Couto to helm the label’s sophomore release. Straight off the bat Hector kicks off the EP with the title track “I Believe”, a hypnotic and infectious number armed to the teeth with precise hi-hats and brooding basslines. “I Believe” cements Hector Couto’s production to an ever evolving sound while setting the stage perfectly for the follow up track “Knight Riders”.

Built on similar foundations to “I Believe”, “Knight Riders” introduces a rich soundscape, playingdeep and shadowy attributes against a field of succinct vocals and lead synth lines. Closing the EP we have remix heavyweights Waifs & Strays, 2013 being a blistering year for the production duo so far, seeing them feature on a plethora of releases. The remix ticks the boxes on what is becoming a key set of signature attributes that make up the duo’s sound, welding key features of the original and pinning them into a heavier groove whilst playing off atmospheric build ups and break downs.

Italian stallion Marco Lys continues his hugely popular run on Great Stuff with a tasty new 2-tracker.

Magic Cinema picks out a deft, plucked synth melody that&#8217;s graced by tense pads and unrelenting bass tones, creating an infectious slice of tech-funk that&#8217;s nimble on its feet. Clever FX and effects trickery create an array of textural subtleties, while powerful synth work that ups the ante in the breaks and at key moments. A big track that never goes OTT, it&#8217;s a perfectly balanced slice of dancefloor erm&#8230; magic.

Fans of piano rompers will dig The Run, a whirling beast of a track laden with dissonant horn samples, bubbling bass and an array of rugged, unidentifiable sounds (is that someone slamming a door we can hear?). The warped vocals and eerie feel of the breakdown build to a frenzied level of crashing cymbals and horn intensity, and the track captivates until the end with all manner of quirky little touches and plenty of attention to detail. It&#8217;s like he&#8217;s seen how many ideas he can get into one track without overcooking it.

Talented Spanish producer Cuartero masterfully combines house and techno to deliver four of his best works to date for the mighty Hot Creations. This heavy 4 tracker has been getting heavy support from Jamie Jones & Richy Ahmed ever since they signed it.

Making a serious impact, title track ‘Dioneli’ is a rolling monster with raw, dominant percussions, while ‘Liquido’ follows suit as a heavy duty weapon. On the flip ‘Manipulated’ is a melodic masterpiece with a bouncing bassline and sultry vocals. Completing the package ‘Smooth Early’ rounds off with more sonic bassline action.

Spanish bred Cuartero began producing at the tender age of 15, launching his first release in 2009. Releases soon followed on labels such as, Desolat, VIVa MUSIC and Moon Harbor Recordings.

I have a cheeky we French number for you today. Produced by Lyon’s rising tech-house star, Spencer K.

I was first introduced to Spencer by Metodi Hristov who collaborated with him on “Basic Tricks”, their Hot Since 82/Danny Daze/Robert Dietz supported bomb from late 2014.

Since then he has given us “Vodka Way”. Was it an ode to the standard DJ rider most clubs opt for? Who knows... What I can say for sure is that it featured on GU’s (Top 10 tech house) Ibiza album and was supported by the likes of Catz’n’Dogz, Wade, The Mekanism & Thermalbear.

For his debut EP on GU he delivers 2 brand new solo tracks and a superb collaboration with Saved/Suruba/Kinetika artist Dennis Cruz.

“Impacto” (with Cruz) kicks off the EP. Heavy brass stabs and oddball vocal effects make a unique topline while some clever percussion and bouncing bottom end deliver a killer club groove that - to me - sounds as fresh and dance-floor ready as Metodi’s “Step Outside” did two summers ago. 

“Dynamite” takes things up a notch with looping vocals and air-punching synths. “Hard Struggle” maintains the energy levels with rolling synths, rapid-fire snares and a cool vocal and for those that missed it first time around, “Vodka Way” is here for you too.
