Of indisputable +313 vintage, Scan 7 with deep roots in the rich musical heritage of Detroit techno, announce their new triple vinyl album since 20 years on Deeptrax Records. Scan 7 which is very close related to Underground Resistance, forms a mysterious Detroit underground collective and with this triple album, Scan 7 is back at the front with a varied style from Metroplex reminisced electro to stringing, banging techno and from deeper Detroit house to epic rooted galaxian jazzy vibes, bringing back the heydays of techno's most influential period ever. Starting with the energetic 'Stringing me along' with thick Deja-Vu UR/ DJ Rolando flashes, towards the political tinged nu-classic electro 'It's time' and from Berghain/ Tresor bangers like 'I'm covered' with the frightening words 'no weapons formed against me shall prosper' until deep vibin' floating house sounds from the Motor city, this album is full of energetic tracks with undeniable deeply rooted futuristic funk and experimental Motown vibrations. SCAN 7`s name (originating from the word DETROIT, which consists of 7 letters, and its area code, 313 (which, added up, equals 7)) will forever remain definitively techno and wholeheartedly Detroit and is here with this 3xLP to infiltrate and knock out!

Son of Sound joins up with Patrice Scott’s Sistrum imprint to release three soulful cuts entitled ‘Evolve’. New York native Henry Maldonado aka Son of Sound has a discography of releases dating back to 1991 from being a part of the House 2 House trio who released a number of standout records on Strictly Rhythm. 

Using New York as the inspiration for his creative work, Henry launched his Speak Recordings imprint as a home for his own records, in addition to further releases on Local Talk, Delusions Of Grandeur and his later formed District 30 label. ‘Evolve’ sees him join Patrice Scott’s Sistrum Recordings label following the likes Alton Miller, Javonntte, Reggie Dokes, Kai Alce, Aleqs Notal and the label boss himself.‘Evolve’ kicks things off by throwing down a broken-beat drum groove, jazzy chords and soul-infused synth swirls. 

‘The Music’ then delivers stabbing bass notes, delicate hats and tranquil melodies together providing this deep house cut with truly infectious elements. ‘Be About It’ finishes off with resounding low end, oscillating kicks and soothing tones steeped in funk and soul flavours.Son of Sound ‘Evolve’ drops on Sistrum Recordings on 27th March 2019.

Last Gas Station aka La.Ga.Sta. turns 10 this year, and celebrates its tunefully inspirational road trips through all these years in a very special way. They (Vangelis and Vaios) invited some of their favourite artists and producers, who have been part of LAGASTA’s family all these years, to choose a best-loved song of theirs, and make a cover version of it for a new anniversary compilation. The outcome is an exceptional ….track compilation that brings the most deserving music to the surface, from George Michael to Siouxsie and the Banshees and from Pet Shop Boys to Blood Orange. It’s a fusion of different decades and music styles.
LAGASTA’s 10 years anniversary compilation drops on May 6th as a free download, with artwork by one of the most exciting graphic designers today, Portugal-born, NYC-based  Bráulio Amado.
Munich’s Benjamin Fröhlich, co-founder of the ever-excellent Permanent Vacation imprint and a great producer and DJ, has been part of LAGASTA since the very first days, with some of LAGASTA’s most beloved tracks being released in his label. For the compilation he serves his version on a track that was a big inspiration for him through the years; the 1981 “How Much Are They”, an 80s anthem from Jah Wobble/Jaki Liebezeit/Holger Czukay, taken from their collaborative album “Full Circle” that was released back in 1982. A true masterpiece.

In 2004 I was asked to remix Nitzer Ebb’s “Murderous”. I always had an interest in the music labeled as “EBM” including bands like Front 242 and it even had a strong influence on the band that was then started by myself called “Alloy Mental”. It’s always been a simple connection between punk and techno. 

I had long wanted to work with Douglas (J McCarthy) again but we had never actually met each other or spoken before, so it wasn’t until last summer I saw a news story saying that Nitzer Ebb were touring again and it just sparked the thought that I really should try contacting him again. I sent a message and then forgot about it. A few months later I got a message back from him and within a couple of days flights were booked to Belfast and he was coming to spend a few days here writing music with me. We got on extremely well and had an amazing few days talking, drinking and occasionally making music. 

The results are here in this EP. I wanted to capture a take on something punk that is just drums bass and a vocal, while slightly reminiscent of 80’s bands like DAF or Cabaret Voltaire, using a power beat from the famous Linn drum machine so it feels like a kind of stiff disco beat and just stripping everything else away to leave it bare and raw for the dance floor.
