In the past five years much has taken place in the German reggae scene. And while some hypes come and go it seems that one thing has remained constant: the presence of European sounds and producers internationally. There are without a doubt also a number of authentic artists who can compete on the international stage. It seems that what we once witnessed with the german “Too Long” Riddim six years ago, is unquestionably taken place once more today with the “Youth” Riddim.

Foresta from Berlin is a promising newcomer amongst producers. He has been working on his music for many years and has thereby had the opportunity to acquire a lot of experience in the producing of vocals and instrumentals. After some time of working as an artist, he decided two years ago that he should concentrate exclusively on producing. The idea for the “Youth” Riddim came into being four years ago and it took a long time from Foresta's head to SilenTone's studio and finally through to Ganjaman's studio, where the riddim was completed and further songs were recorded. However, Foresta is far from producing merely Reggae and so, besides completing the “Youth” Riddim he has taken on further diverse productions, which we shall surely have the pleasure of listening to this year.

Ganjaman has been known under this name on Germany's Reggae stages since the early nineties. It was his single “Ganjafarmer” (2001) that started a new era for German Reggae music. As a producer he has been working on other artists' various productions, riddims and albums for many years. Martin Zobel, Goldi, Jahcoustix and last but not least label artist Ephraim Juda are amongst those artists who have had the pleasure of working with Ganjaman on their albums in the past year. Needless to say, none of the albums by the above named artists would sound quite the same, had not Ganjaman added his magic touch. The “Youth” Riddim is no exception. Foresta took the riddim to Ganjaman's studio when the riddim seemed already complete, but here Ganjaman reworked the mix and furthermore took care of vocalmixes and the mastering of the riddim.

In den letzten fünf Jahren ist in der Reggaeszene, unserer Breitengrade, viel geschehen. Hypes kommen und gehen, aber eine Entwicklung kann inzwischen wohl auch der engagierteste Schwarzmaler nicht mehr verleugnen. Europäische Sounds und Produzenten sind inzwischen international anerkannt und auch auf der Seite der Artists gibt es inzwischen mehr als nur eine handvoll authentischer Künstler, die sich auch auf internationalem Parkett nicht verstecken müssen. Was der „Too Long“ Riddim vor sechs Jahren leistete – einen Überblick über die damalige Szene zu bieten – geschieht jetzt, im Jahr 2011, mit dem „Youth“ Riddim noch ein Mal!

Der Berliner Foresta ist ein vielversprechender Newcomer im Produzentenbereich. Seit vielen Jahren arbeitet er an seiner eigenen Musik und konnte dort erste Erfahrungen im Produzieren von timmen und Instrumentalen. Nach seiner Artistlaufbahn - unter einem Namen der laut ihm heute nicht mehr genannt werden darf - entschied er sich vor ungefähr zwei Jahren dazu, sich in Zukunft vorerst nur noch auf das Produzieren zu konzentrieren. Die Idee zum "Youth" Riddim entstand vor vier Jahren und benötigte einen langen Weg aus Forestas Kopf, über das Studio von SilenTone, bis hin zu Ganjamans Studio, in dem der Abschluss gefunden wurde und einige weitere Songs aufgenommen wurden. Foresta produziert aber bei weitem nicht nur Reggae und arbeitet auch neben der Finalisierung des "Youth" Riddims schon fleißig an weiteren Produktionen, von denen wir sicher noch einige in diesem Jahr zu hören bekommen!

Über den Berliner Artist und Produzenten Ganjaman muss eigentlich nicht mehr viel gesagt werden. Allerdings wurde auch dieser Satz inzwischen schon viel zu oft gesagt und so sollte man also inzwischen vielleicht doch wieder was sagen. Wir machen es jedenfalls einfach. Als Artist ist Ganjaman seit Anfang der 90er Jahren auf deutschen Reggae Bühnen unterwegs und mit der "Ganjafarmer" Single im Jahr 2001, lies er für Reggaemusik auf Deutsch eine neue Ära anbrechen. Als Produzent arbeitet er seit Jahren an verschiedensten Produktionen, Riddims und Alben von anderen Artists. Im letzten Jahr wären da unter anderem die Alben von Martin Zobel, Goldi, Jahcoustix und nicht zuletzt auch das Album des Labelartists Ephraim Juda zu nennen. Keines dieser Alben würde klingen, wie es klingt, ohne dass Ganjaman seine Finger im Spiel gehabt hätte. So ist es auch beim "Youth" Riddim... Nachdem der Riddim in seiner Struktur anscheinend schon fertig war und Foresta damit in Ganjamans Studio in Berlin kam, setzte dieser sich noch ein Mal an den Mix, lies einen neuen Bass einspielen und kümmerte sich schlussendlich vor allem um die Vocalmixe und das fertige Master.
