Veering from tech house to the less definable reaches of bass-driven house music, Tom Budden’s ALiVE Recordings has carved out a name as one of the UK’s most dependable and forward-thinking labels since its launch in 2008.

Early releases received support from the likes of Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and Luciano, while the likes of James Zabiela, Richy Ahmed, John Digweed, Catz N Dogz, Groove Armada, M A N I K and Danny Howells are just a few of the other names to feature ALiVE releases in their sets. It’s a label with a diverse output and a correspondingly wide appeal.

Along the way, ALiVE has featured material from serious talents like Shadow Child, Waifs & Strays, Arnaud Le Texier, NTFO, Leftwing & Kody, Yousef, Shall Ocin, Worthy, Audiojack, Inxec and Echomen - giving hefty support to many new names alongside more established forces.

Recent years have seen the label push a darkly-tinged, tough-edged sound imbued with the heritage of UK dance music, with tinges of rave and hardcore clashing heads with ALiVE’s techy backbone.

We know full well that nostalgia is a redundant, pointless time-waste of a past-time. However there are some things in life that affect you deeply, especially as a child.&#13;

We are captivated by a more naive, innocent time in the development of human culture and technology. Namely the acid house and disco eras of the 70's, 80's and 90's. We are obsessed with trying to recreate the  mind pictures evoked by cult and pop culture in the limitlessly imaginative and impressionable juvenile mind. &#13;

We can't help but look back and revel in the warm fuzzy feelings evoked when watching badly animated cartoons on wobbly VHS, marvel at outdated futuristic technologies of the past, and we pine for times long gone when music was, underproduced, mistake-ridden, and, well, musical.&#13;
&#13;
That's not to say we aren't looking forward and embracing as much as our tiny, cynical minds can handle...&#13;
&#13;
However, 2016, to a certain extent scares us.
