A vessel sails into uncharted waters. Looking overboard the water stalls, stagnant and murky, Captain James Cook stands aboard the HMS Endeavor, in the distant lies an island, unmapped harboring dangers unknown and creatures unseen. An island away from the ailments and failures of the known world, representing the hope and excitement of a new beginning. Def.Rhymes.Divine was birthed on such an island, a metaphorical island surrounded by the seas of mindless repetition, and unoriginal styles, which plague the commercial hip-hop movement. This island is Colorado. And like the island which appeared through the fog to James Cook, Def.Rhymes evolved as creatures unparalleled within the Hip-Hop culture. Boasting a collective of MC's each specifically adapted to their element, Def.Rhymes runs the gamut of styles from conscience, to hardcore, to boom-bap, and everything in between. With members, Callahan Montoya, Speight The Villain, PlentyRhymez, Docktor Specktor, MindsI, D-Lo The Martyr, Manny Moonz, C-Def, SachmoFlo, providing unique rhymes laced over in-house production formulated by The.Remedy & Dubz P. Just picture a splotch of mold on a petri dish. That petri dish is an island in itself, situated away from the rest of the world. This is Hip-Hop. And within this island lays another island, one created all it's own, separated from the rest of the dish. This is Def.Rhymes. And like the giant ape, or the mold….We keep growing.

Singer songwriter from Fort Collins Colorado. Lead singer, guitar player and writer for Shovelin Stone. Raised in a blue collar family on 5th generation land. There was always guitars in the house from his grandmother passed down, and he took an early interest in playing and singing his own songs when he was just 13. Inspired by all things music from Led Zeppelin to Doc Watson and J-Cole, Makenzie Willox wants to make music that sonically makes you feel deeply and lyrically makes you reflect internally.
