In 2016 Default Position’s founder Joseph S Joyce hosts a monthly show on Hoxton FM. The show features new and unreleased material from the label and affiliate artists, as well as monthly guest spots, interviews, and discussions.

The first is a series of new Default Position radio shows aired live on Hoxton FM, hosted by label founder Joseph S Joyce including an exclusive interview with special guest James Thompson from Juno Distribution and Ornate Music. During the interview we discuss the various aspects of pressing and releasing and distributing vinyl in the modern age and catch up on the latest with Ornate Music.

In June 2016 our Default Position show was broadcast live at the Hoxton FM studio with special guest Oliver Torr [XYZ Project]. We have to say this was one of the most unique and interesting guest shows we had so far. Oliver demonstrates his forward thinking approach to sound design and a selection of rare bespoke cuts from various artists he knows. Lofi tape saturated frequencies set theme for the evening, have a listen and be inspired!

Default Position is a London/Berlin-based record label founded by Joseph S Joyce which specialises in emotive forms of electronic music. The label gets its name from a term that is widely used in psychology, referring to a person's natural tendency or reaction to something or someone. A person's default position is often based on deeply embedded core beliefs about themselves or the world around them, often originating from childhood. Many of us will have to challenge our default positions in life, especially if we've developed negative ones. In terms of creativity, however, we believe that the default position serves something of great value. We believe it represents an artist's fundamental frequency, a place of creative authenticity, devoid of external influences or material motive. When an artist's output comes from their default position they express their truth. Our aim is to help them deliver their message.
