Deze keer gelukkig iets sneller dan de vorige presenteren we aflevering 10 van onze GANK-podcastreeks. Publiekswinnaar van onze vorige DJ-contest @default_laboratory vergast ons op 'the dark voyager' - een werkstuk dat zijn naam niet gestolen heeft want we krijgen anderhalf uur donkere, spacey techno die de luisteraar katapulteert naar een ver universum. 
Zelf eens draaien voor GANK? Check dan snel de MAATWERK-event pagina op facebook waar er tot eind mei een DJ-contest loopt. En uiteraard allen aanwezig op onze allereerste festival samen met Seba Lecompte!

GANK 010 - Podcast by DEFAULT LABORATORY - The Dark Voyager

A planetary voyage through space, exploring and scanning every dark corner of a randomly chosen galactic pathway, planet hopping, picking up signals of extra terrestrial lifeforms. A more organic, deep and DARK spaced-out sound. Mixed on a firm 132 Bpm, Techno just the way I like it the most!. A 90 minutes mix session almost bringing you back to those legendary KOZZMOZZ days, but compiled with a fine selection of recently released tracks.

Default LabMix016 09 06 23 - Another Interplanetary Endeavor

LabMix019 recorded sat.30-09-23 @ Default-Lab home studio. "Debugging The Spaceship" Using Serato for little over A year now combined with my A&H DB4 I finnaly realized that my system was getting kinda buggy and became kind-off A hag. So doing some research I found out my Serato was running on the wrong and 'not so compatible with the DB4' software release. Things were definitely not running the way it should which resulted in al these small and irritating bugs in mainly the playlist settings and view. Only one thing to do, downgrade the hell out of Serato, and go back to A previous fully working stable version. Because The A&H DB4 is a discontinued mixer, Allen&Heath and Serato don't feel the erge to update their firmware/software for this product which is sad because c'mon those who no now this mixer must admit: "ITSAGODDAMNBEAST!" 
Next I'm going to check the firmware of the DB4 because there still seems to be a filter issu. I'm thinking that's deffenatly a problem within the mixer itself. If this doesn't resolve the problem I guess it's going to A&H for service and to replace the filter knob.
Now, out of all this Debugging came this, you could say test1.0 set which immediately felt way more relaxed and actually gave me back full control of that kinda Analog way of mixing where the software is basically only used for running the digital Flac files on to the timecode vinyl on my SL1210 and the DB4 has full control as A main mixer. this set is A uptempo 135BPM repetitive, rhythmic, straight forward techno sound of a compilation of all NBP's (=never been played), recently new released tracks by some of my current favorite various artist and labels.

Default LabMix019 30 09 23 - Debugging The Spaceship

Opnieuw met enige vertraging, maar het wachten heeft zeker geloond! Voor de eerste keer presenteren we een 'vervolgcast': een vervolg op de stevige, spacy trip die podcast 010 'the Dark Voyager' van @default_laboratory was. We krijgen opnieuw meer dan 2u diepe, donkere techno die je naar de diepste uithoeken van het heelal meeneemt. Spacen maar!

Next stop: 06.04 't is GANK met de AMIGO's #4 met als headliner @hugorolan - Spaanse hypnotische techno van de bovenste plank!

LabMix022 recorded sat.20-04-24 @ Default-Lab home studio. Distant Landscapes. A compilation of recently released tracks by some of my favorite various artist and labels, still vibin’ from my latest trip previous weekend to STOOR Amsterdam. Proud to announce A one for the books home session in a mature style of techno with lots of subharmonics and organic, flowin sounds from start to finish, still with the right amount of punch. Default LabMix022 20 04 24- Distant Landscapes

LabMix023 recorded sat.25-05-24 @ Default-Lab home studio. 
Distorted Elements, A compilation of recently released tracks by some of my favorite various artist and labels. Here we have it, my latest home session, this time A more punchy, driven, an almost primetime style of techno. 
A 150minutes set filled with tons of repetitive rhythmics and over all A very 'BIG' sound, just the way that that real techno should sound. 
Also on the mixing part still deepening out the possibilities on the A&H Xone DB4 which obviously still has some secrets hidden inside and fine tuning/organizing my Serato catalog to a more logic extend. Again A signature Default LabMix, please enjoy!

Default LabMix023 25 05 24 - Distorted Elements

LabMix026 recorded sat.17-08-24 @ Default-Lab home studio. 
A compilation of various tracks by some of my favorite various artist and labels. System Overload... A boiling hot session that's just destined to make you move.
There's some serious business going on here, a blend of heavy, hypnotic, sweaty repetitive techno,  perfectly suitable for the peak of the night till the break of dawn! 
A continuously increasing vibin' sound that exceeds the point of no return, so be aware ...  'Meltdown Initiated'
Also luvin' my setup, on the mixing part still deepening out the possibilities on the A&H Xone DB4, new headphones seems to do it's part and I'm still fine tuning/organizing my Serato catalog to a more logic extend. All this contributes to the result of this mixing session recorded on a hot summer night in a boiling hot studio. Again A signature Default LabMix, please enjoy!

Default LabMIx026 17 08 24- Meltdown Initiated

LabMix027 recorded sat.02-11-24 @ Default-Lab home studio.
A compilation of various tracks by some of my favorite various artist and labels. Full thrust ahead... A peaktime session, launching you on a digital highway in a landscape of electronic components, Light-Emitting Diodes and soldered pathways.
Experiencing scattering rhythmics, static soundwaves, high frequency sparks, glimmering particles and fully charged beats. So, energy level is on max, the gauges are set on lightspeed! Let’s go!
My advice: strap on, don’t look back and just keep going… next exit in 90 minutes!
Also luvin' my setup, on the mixing part still deepening out the possibilities on the A&H Xone DB4 and still fine tuning/organizing my Serato catalog to a more logic extend. All this contributes to the result of this mixing session. A signature Default LabMix, please enjoy!

Default LabMix027 02 11 24 - A Binary Propulsion

LabMix028 recorded sat.28-12-24 @ Default-Lab home studio.
A compilation of various tracks by some of my favorite various artist and labels. recorded earlier this weekend at my home studio. 
this latest set is actually a test recording to try out my new configuration and settings on the DB4, 
this A&H mixer still continues to amaze me even after all these years. 
I have been using it so long now in various configurations, but only recent have I discovered the MIDI mapping functions, which finally allowed me to put an 
end to that annoying lag between the timecodevinyl and the internal MIDI clock of the DB4. 
This results in much more comfortabel, fun and smoother mixing.
I feel like the test was successful and I can 
now continue remapping the mixer even more to my personal feel.
(I like my workflow to be as analog as possible, old school. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a digital mixer.)
So now I basically created 2 layers, 1 for FLAC digital/timecode and 1 for good old real vinyl. 
No extra hardware needed, less is more, that's how I prefer it, everything hands-on, on 1 piece off gear. 
So, once more, A signature Default LabMix, please enjoy!

Default LabMix030 18 01 25 - Signal Interference

hi there, 
It's been a while but here I'm back with my new LabMix session, LabMix031.
Maybe a little less usual than my previous sessions, I start this one with a slightly softer approach and I let myself be inspired by the STOOR concept of Speedy J. 
As usual the first hours of this concept are always very accumulative, mostly starting from dreamy scapes and floating offbeat sounds, the improvisation collective searches and evolves bit by bit towards a fixed 4-to-the-floor rhythm. If I may say, I am really satisfied with my own interpretation of a STOOR (on Sunday) night.
In short, a 2-hour deeeeeeeeeeep techno mix in which I search the way to "Re-Establishing Connections"

Default LabMix031 15 03 25 - Re-Establishing Connections

Hello,
as a follow-up and especially because of the many positive feedback we will continue in the same vein as the previous session.
So, same vibe, same formula! still completely inspired by STOOR I bring you once again a 2 hour set of floating offbeat to deep techno beats cleaved with crackling and creaking, sparking, electro-organic sounds. this is LabMix032 "A Static Release". 

I humbly serve you a session composed of some of my current favorite artists and songs of this time. This time a bit rougher on the edges and a bit darker feeling but still with that same exciting feeling as the previous SC session.
I present you the second act of STOOR. My own interpretation of hours 3 and 4 of this event

Default LabMix032 19 04 25 - A Static Release

LabMix033 is here! This time it's a solid chunk. Partly at the request of a loyal listener I'm delivering you a dj-set inspired by the Spanish dj/producer Oscar Mulero but of course with a spicy Default sauce drizzled all over it. After seeing the man at work, just a few weeks ago at his all-night-long set in the Fuse in Brussels, the atmosphere for this session was quickly set.
So, a lot of new tracks from Spanish soil, among others, all bundled in a 3-hour techno orgy. This is Default LabMix033 17 05 25 - For An Angel

This is Default LabMix034, it took a while but here I am back with a true gem. Really something straight up my alley. Full, warm, layered, ethereal and perfectly placed sounds. A beautiful, slightly progressive set that takes you on a very interesting journey through the entire color spectrum. a touch of expressionism, inner emotions placed central, reality is distorted.
