Following her standout Defected debut 'Cure My Desire' featuring Clementine Douglas, Hannah Wants returns to the London imprint with 'The One' featuring West London singer-songwriter ARA. Building on the success of her previous Defected release, which peaked at #20 in the UK Shazam chart following a 16-week stint on the KISS FM playlist and heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1, 'The One' continues to showcase Hannah's evolving production style. With an irresistible rolling feel, ARA provides an evocative top line that elevates the house cut to new dimensions, while Hannah's club expertise gives 'The One' its dancefloor sensibility.

Internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, and Defected House Master David Penn returns to the label with a distinct, deep house single. Over the course of his 25-year career the Spanish dance music icon has demonstrated his broad capabilities, from the Latin house grooves of ‘Esperanza’ and Defected smash hits ‘Nobody’ and ‘Push The Feeling’, to remixes of both classic and modern hits from Pete Heller, Candi Staton, and Purple Disco Machine. With sets that prioritise live elements and crowd engagement lined up for summer 2023, this heavyweight performer will continue to impress at Defected Croatia and Ibiza. 

For his latest release, the Urbana Recordings label owner explores his range with Congolese vocalist Bemendé; ‘Reachin Out’ features the singer’s husky topline, conveying strength and pain in equal measure as understated piano chords contrast with bit-crushing sonic decoration, signalling a new direction for the world-class producer.

Girls Of The Internet return to Luke Solomon’s imprint with the tender house track ‘Affirmations’. Their debut release on Classic in 2017, ‘When U Go’, established the group as ones to watch, and in the six years since they have connected house, soul, disco and garage into one recognisable and modern aesthetic. The sweeping cut features vocals from the experienced and versatile Anelisa Lamola, who established herself in the 2021 musical ‘The Color Purple’ and closed BBC Radio 1’s Dance Weekend the following year. 

‘Affirmations’ was co-written by burgeoning UK soul star Sophie Faith, with soulful lyrics supported by an uplifting string quartet arrangement that leaves a lasting impression. With their 2020 album ‘Girls FM’ gaining support from the likes of Pete Tong and The Blessed Madonna, the house band, spearheaded by Tom Kerridge deliver another striking release on Classic.

Figurehead of Berlin institution Keinemusik Adam Port and Mexican electronic innovator Theus Mago join forces on a collective debut for Defected Records ‘The Dream’. A glowing, otherworldly cut featuring an evocative vocal from Columbian vocalist Martina Camargo, steady beats, intricate percussion and Latin-inspired drum patterns form an irresistible backdrop to her soaring vocal. With a transcendent soulfulness that offsets the tougher elements of the record, the track’s title ‘The Dream’ feels exceptionally fitting, warm and emotive while retaining plenty of dancefloor muscle.

Enlisting the vocals of London singer-songwriter Camden Cox, the French trio create a glorious backdrop for her tender top-line, as soft chords, bouncy synths and an irresistible bassline harmonize with Camden’s playful lyricism. Mark Knight’s latest outing on Toolroom Records is a timeless, feel-good slice of musical hedonism that harks back to those glorious days when house was house, and nothing more.

These days, the word ‘house’ is more often than not accompanied by a qualifier: is it ‘tech’, ‘deep’, ‘future’ or one of another dozen or so sub-genres that seek to further categorize a style of music that frankly could do without it. Step forward Mark Knight to deliver ‘Yebisah’: a record that is HOUSE, pure and simple, perfectly timed to put a smile on the faces of thousands of clubbers all around the world, not least of all in Ibiza.

"Back in the day, Ibiza was about house, not tech House, techno, minimal or bass music” says Mark. “That’s why people used to congregate there. I just wanted to write a solid, uplifting house record that DJs could play peak time or at the end of their set. Ibiza has been instrumental in my DJing career and as an artist and this record is an ode to the most magical island on the planet. It’s a house cut that I hope a lot of DJs will love and recognise why it’s perfect to be played on the island."
