In times of trouble and uncertainty music can provide great relief for the soul, and DAVIE’s triumphant Defected debut ‘Testify’ does exactly that. A joyous introduction to the Brooklyn artist, this single demonstrated an ability to strike the balance between classic and contemporary sounds seamlessly. Now, the record DAVIE himself describes as, “a dance song, not a gospel song,” gets four brand new remixes. Up first, Peppermint Jam boss Mousse T. plays to the gospel elements of the original, with deep, powerful chords and rhythmic claps, bringing a snapping groove to the cut. Next, London talent KDA goes for a clubbier sound, looping the vocal and raising the BPM. Alan Dixon’s funk-fuelled remix follows, with melodic keys and irresistible horns. Finally, undisputed master of the disco edit Danny Krivit delivers his sublime club-friendly version, extending the original Danny maintains the feel, with subtle adjustments that give it a more refined sound.

New York house legend Quentin Harris makes his Glitterbox Recordings debut with the joyous ‘Stronger’, with vocals from regular collaborator Jason Walker. Originally released in 2016 on Def Mix Music, this brand-new package features the previously unheard A Director’s Cut Remix (provided by none other than Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper), as well as a remix from fellow hero of the New York house scene David Morales. Opening with Quentin’s original, laden with uplifting piano riffs and a soulful vocal that delivers the peak time feels, David’s remix provides a clubbier alternative, string-filled with a grooving bassline. Finally, the previously unreleased Directors Cut closes out the package, as Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper don the alias to bring a high-energy, dancefloor-ready alternative.
