Rossie @rossie_music and Plecta @plecta86 join forces for the first time on Univack to deliver a vibrant and sensorial EP, composed of two original tracks and a remix by Argentinian producer Agustin Pietrocola@agus-pietrocola . “Matala / Cariló” moves fluidly between Progressive House and Organic House, filled with rhythmic richness, sonic nuance, and a strong personality that aligns perfectly with the spirit of the label.

“Cariló” opens the journey with tribal energy, precise percussion, immersive ethnic vocals, and acidic textures that build a bold identity and make an immediate impact on the dancefloor. In “Matala”, the mood becomes brighter, driven by a distinctive groove and bassline, blended with a wide palette of samples, effects, and sonic details that enrich every bar. To close the EP, Agustin Pietrocola transforms “Matala” into a more progressive and powerful version, adding sophisticated harmonic tension—ideal for emotional climaxes or deep nighttime sessions that require direction and depth.

The next artist stepping up to mix Defected’s coveted In The House series is Melé, a producer whose standout percussive sound and infectious energy behind the decks makes him one of the UK’s most captivating, flourishing DJs. From 13-year-old bedroom DJ growing up in the Wirral to his breakout tribal anthem ‘Ambience’ in 2015, Melé has now fully honed his skills in production and mixing, culminating in two mixes for ‘Defected presents Melé In The House’ and three brand new productions. Two of these original productions are included in this sampler, demonstrating what’s to come from the compilation.

With live percussion from drum warrior Shovell, the cover of ‘Pasilda’ pumps up the track’s unmistakeable rhythms and piano melody (recorded live by prolific record producer Fraser T Smith) with an irresistibly hefty bassline and vocal loops. A long-time highlight of Melé’s sets but until now unreleased, ‘Pasilda’ is an exclusive from the upcoming compilation. The aptly named ‘Brooklyn Bounce’ is Melé’s ode to Danny Tenaglia, a key influence whose sought-after percussive spirit is apparent throughout Melé's work. This sophisticated pumping house cut with plenty of signature layered percussion is the perfect set-up for the anticipated ‘Defected presents Melé In The House’.

Josh Butler returns with yet another knockout production on Defected. The deep and groovy ‘Feels Good’ gained immediate attention when the DJ Mag and Beatport award-winning producer premiered it on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix on earlier this year. The track has an authentic house sound, as Josh blends uplifting synths and rave stabs with the feel-good powerhouse vocals of soul duo HanLei, noted for their work as Grace Jones’ backing singers. On the Dub, Josh brings the composition to heavy hitting grounds, with a deeply rhythmic bassline and breakdowns, which have already been slaying dancefloors in Ibiza and Croatia. Having worked closely with key players such as Kerri Chandler, Steve Lawler and Joris Voorn on previous releases, ‘Feels Good’ solidifies Josh as one of the most prolific and in demand producers currently on the scene.
