Glaswegian tastemaker Arielle Free returns to Defected Records alongside multi-faceted Might Delete Later to deliver ‘Shy’. An accomplished DJ, producer and BBC broadcaster with a distinct house sonic, Arielle’s previous Defected release ‘Feels So Good’ was a 2023 standout, earning support from fellow BBC tastemakers Danny Howard and Jeremiah Asiamah. Her infectious sound has been heard widely across the UK and further afield, including sets at Defected’s biggest parties in 2024 – from their flagship festivals in Croatia and Malta to their open-air Ushuaïa Ibiza residency. For her latest club-ready release, Arielle is joined by Might Delete Later, a festival favourite and producer turning voicemails into music who has opened for Elderbrook, Moderat and Joy Anonymous and collaborated with Patrick Topping. Lyrically, ‘Shy’ is inspired by real confessions of insecurity and self-acceptance from an anonymous voicemail, per Might Delete Later’s unique process. Marking a fresh sonic approach for Arielle Free on Defected, the record utilises live instruments to support an uplifiting topline, creating a pepped-up dose of house that is sure to light up dancefloors and the airwaves alike.

Long-time friend of Defected Ferreck Dawn returns with ‘Make Me Weak’, featuring vocals from Caroline Byrne. A Dutch powerhouse who in 2024 played for the London label at Wembley’s OVO Arena, the summer season at Ushuaïa Ibiza, its flagship festival in Croatia and world tour stop in Toulouse, Ferreck continues to rep Defected on an international level - now preparing for the label’s season at Pacha Ibiza. His busy touring schedule was matched by his Defected output, working with Maverick Sabre, New Machine, GUZ, MEDUZA and Clementine Douglas on a string of tracks last year. Returning to the label in 2025, Ferreck collaborates with Caroline Byrne, a prolific dance music singer / songwriter who has previously featured on tracks with Gorgon City, Tudor, and TSHA. ‘Make Me Weak’ is a groovier, more synth-laden outing for Ferreck, spotlighting Caroline’s airy topline layered in harmony, creating a vocaloid-like effect that aligns perfectly with Ferreck’s signature, hard-hitting production.

Following the Beatport-charting success of ‘Usiku’, rising Afro House producer Will B (UK) teams up once again with Kenyan vocalist and songwriter Nes Mburu for the second chapter in their musical journey — ‘Asubuhi’, released August 15th via Spirit Animal Records.

Translating to “morning” in Swahili, Asubuhi picks up where Usiku (“night”) left off — but with a dramatic shift in mood, energy, and emotional depth.
