A quietly underrated producer and accomplished musician, Rapson's name may be unfamiliar to most but his talents are undeniable. A versatile artist, he worked as a session musician on Ben Westbeech's critically-acclaimed Brownswood Recordings releases and was for some time known for a broken beat-type sound, before his sublime white-label edit of Marvin Gaye's 'Mercy Mercy Me' was picked up and supported by Gilles Peterson.

'Heat' is a sparkling gem of a house record, echoing Disclosure's weightless bouncing basslines with beautifully clear-cut vocals from Nathan Thomas on top. Hotly anticipated by house heads worldwide, Rapson's 'Heat' finally gets a full release on Defected alongside a remix from Scott Diaz who creates a tougher groove, bringing the track firmly down to earth. Finally, Sweden's OPOLOPO's remix sees the track transform into a nu-disco rendition with a warm summer feel. An irresistible vocal hook, piano riff and versatile production sets 'Heat' up to be heating up dancefloors worldwide for a while to come.

Introducing an Australian duo on the rise, Human Movement make their debut on Defected with a smart dual single demonstrating buckets of natural talent. ‘Run It By Me’ features indie-style vocals from Eliot Porter and ‘Help A Brother Out’, with its more direct club approach, show a depth of house music knowledge that has so far caught the attention of the likes of Joris Voorn and Richie Hawtin. They recently had one of their live mixes featured by Resident Advisor as their ‘Mix Of The Day’ and have gained support from Triple J, Beats 1 Radio and BBC Radio 1. Here on a straight house tip, the title track is a sparky melodic house track with a quintessentially Defected soulful vibe, whereas ‘Help A Brother Out’ uses cowbell accents over a compelling rolling bassline. In-demand producer Flashmob delivers a masterful two-piece assault on his Hot Creations debut, entitled The Lone Brazilian.

The EP opens with the title track, fronting a funk-laden bassline and percussive, driving drums. Tribalistic male and female chants break the track up, adding depth to the unfolding journey. Next up, Lower Level supplies a deeper trip. A tight, assertive drum track counterparts a short, wandering bassline to form a settled, rolling feel.

Italian artist Flashmob, real name Alessandro Magani, is a renowned producer and remixer, label owner and touring DJ. Since 2011 he’s released on the world’s biggest labels, such as Get Physical, Defected, Kompakt, Snatch!, to name a few, and now delivers his bespoke sound for Hot Creations.
