One half of iconic British duo Basement Jaxx Felix Buxton and vocalist Gia make their Defected debut with the soul-stirring ‘So Hooked On Your Lovin’, alongside two groove-loaded remixes by Mousse T.. The first ever release under their Selace pseudonym, the record comes laden with lingering organ chords and stunningly raw vocals, echoing the stripped back quality of Switch’s ‘I Still Love You’ and with a similar deep-reaching feel to Massive Attack’s early 90s classic ‘Unfinished Sympathy’. Production maestro Mousse T. works his magic with his funk-drenched Disco Shizzle mix loaded with a pumping bassline and guitar riffs alongside a deeper Dubby Shizzle version laced with a spoken word hook. Less is more with Selace; this is a minimalist yet undeniably stunning record that lets its captivating song do all the work.

Legendary German DJ Mousse T. lends his signature disco-infused style to his Disco Shizzle Remix, producing an atmospheric club cut. Pioneering Leeds native Nightmares On Wax delivers his smooth, jazz-laced remix full of funk-flavoured grooves, demonstrating his innate musicality.

Named King of the Edit since the 1980’s, pioneering Manhattan DJ Danny Krivit’s (aka Mr K) latest delivery instils the title bestowed upon him some 30 years ago. An esteemed selector Danny’s prolific remixing and production capabilities have touched hundreds of records – with his signature flare shaping the New York City sound. Opening the two-track release is Danny edit this summer’s seminal track The Vision’s ‘Heaven’, interweaving a gloriously groovy bassline with Andreya Triana’s vocal to produce an extended, DJ friendly mix that he sent crowds wild with at Dekmental Festival. Up next, Mr K delves a little deeper into the Defected catalogue, trying his hand at The DangerFeel Newbies’ ‘What Am I Here For (Original NDATL Vocal)’. Danny’s stripped back version extends the jazzy, percussive original, as velvety smooth vocals and elegant keys bring this expressive and sophisticated release to a close.

In times of trouble and uncertainty music can provide relief for the soul, and DAVIE’s triumphant Defected debut ‘Testify’ does exactly that. A joyous introduction to the Brooklyn artist, this release demonstrates an ability to strike the balance between classic and contemporary sounds seamlessly. Steeped in music from a young age, DAVIE followed the path many soul greats did before him, joining the choir in a local church where his father was a pastor. Describing ‘Testify’ as, “a dance song not a gospel song ,” the record remains inspired by his upbringing up in the church, radiating all the energy and atmosphere of worship in full flow. Following Gorgon City’s huge remix, that soared to #1 of the Beatport House Chart, the London imprint now deliver a brand-new package featuring mixes from Qubiko, Larse and Moon Rocket. With Qubiko delivering his signature rubbery bassline and unwavering groove, Larse’s atmospheric, velvety builds and  Moon Rocket bringing a dose of underground heat, this package once again demonstrates the versatility of ‘So Hooked On Your Lovin’.
