Scuffed Recordings line up the sixth instalment of their Scuffed Presents series, with four artists from the Scuffed roster stepping up to remix tracks from the label catalogue.

The Scuffed Presents remix compilations have become an annual tradition for the Scuffed schedule each summer, with previous remixes coming from the likes of Nikki Nair, Marshall Applewhite, Stones Taro, and label founders Ian DPM and Wager.

On 2021’s edition of the series, the label welcomes Farsight, Fiesta Soundsystem, Dubrunner, and An Avrin to put their spin on their favourite Scuffed tracks – resulting in a fresh and wide-reaching mix of sounds.

Closing out the release is Londoner @4navr1n, whose wonky, idiosyncratic style is on show all over his remix of Dubrunner’s ‘Destination Unknown’.

Leeds-based producer Bertie debuts on Noire State with a two-track release exploring weighty bass and rolling breakbeats.

Manchester collective Noire State was founded in early 2020 primarily as a party series, but with the COVID pandemic putting the brakes on events across the world, they quickly pivoted to starting a label and mix series, showcasing the cutting edge of UK underground club music.
Having so far put out releases from Oldboy and Indent, Noire State’s third release comes from newcomer Bertie, who has been picking up momentum with radio plays on BBC Music Introducing, Rinse, Balamii and SWU FM.

Title track ‘Tinyard’ shows the versatility of Bertie’s productions with a harder-edged approach aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

As a prolific producer delving into a wide variety of genres, including breaks, drum and bass, and electro, K-65 has begun to make waves as an eclectic, well-rounded producer in the UK underground. With prior releases on Top Drawer Digital, Slippery Sounds, CORE ltd., Belters mag, Seagrave, Taipan Trax, Maison Fauna, and Over and Out, K-65’s accolades are skyrocketing almost as quickly as his discography. The monthly hike with Virgil always concludes with a visit to 點心餅家 - Touch Of The Heart Bakery. A morning connecting with nature and reminiscing about Hong Kong always leads us to this legendary institution. Established in 1922, by a family of immigrants from Hong Kong. This place never fails to fascinate me on multiple fronts every single time I go. Whether it is the sizzling tray of egg tarts coming straight out of the oven, seeing the bakers zoned in, creating magic or its ability to transport me spiritually to Hong Kong. Something I don’t think I can comprehend myself.

So to celebrate 100 Years of Touch Of The Heart Bakery. We have curated this special project with some mega talented people. Hopefully this reflecting 4 Generations, dedication to the craft. The craft of literally touching hearts and creating smiles. Also was super to see Florence, a long time friend and next in line to take over at the bakery. Both being in the same year class at Chinese School decades ago, sharing a love for Marvin Gaye, Ryo Fukui and of course edits. She left me with some wonderful words by her late grandfather (Heard this from Jimmy Iovine too!) - “Give yourself time, to make something that will last forever. Egg Tart. A Timeless Art”
