[HEFTY001] Private Caller x SDS MAX [Clips]

West Coast mainstays @dannygoliger and @justin-jay bring a slamming, club-ready collaborative release to Scuffed Recordings on the ‘Sticky Rice’ EP.

Danny and Justin have been releasing music together since 2020, when the two teamed up for a track on their own Fantastic Voyage imprint. Since then, the Los Angeles based artists have collaborated on tracks on Dirtybird and Childsplay, marking them out as a team to be reckoned with.

Alongside their collabs, Danny has appeared as a solo artist on labels like clip.art, art|werk and Moving Castle, while Justin has had a storied career appearing on labels as varied as Time Is Now, Suara, and Pets Recordings along with being a longtime member of the Dirtybird camp.

Now the two join forces on Scuffed Recordings, with a release including two collabs and a solo track from each artist.

From the outset, the duo wears their UK influences on their sleeves, taking in breakbeat grooves, rolling bass, and upfront percussion. Over the course of the two collabs and two solo tracks, Danny and Justin gleefully tear through an array of genres and influences – whether that’s electro, techno, UK garage, breaks, or IDM, they bounce off each other effortlessly to form a concise and impactful club EP.

Presenting NS004, our first ever V/A compilation, Penumbra; an eclipse between the perfect shadow and the full light. 

The ‘light’ side, featuring three new originals from Nativ, whose track ‘Shifty’ has become nothing short of a UK funky classic, Club Glow's Borai bringing the 90s rave nostalgia, and rising producer LUXE closing with dreamy pads and euphoric keys with ‘On The Up’.

On the ‘dark’ side, three remixes to pair, from London lad Shawn Cartier, Cali-based Farsight, and Raiders Records very own Young Lychee - bringing their own spicy slant to our three originals.

Penumbra is available for pre-order via our Bandcamp. The full comp will be hitting the proverbial shelf, and all streaming platforms, on April 29th.

Lucid Juice is now a label, and what better way to kick things off for LJR001, than with a 3 track EP from Manchester based producer Dulha. Coming off the back of releases for Interpolate, Daytimers and Gimme a Break, We’ve been lucky enough to be gifted ‘Wat Wer U Finkin?’ A trio of bass music hybrids that’ll have you thinking that you should be dancing.


The 2nd track “Strawberry Raver’, is a 145bpm track with a dramatic building soundscape that brings more and more elements in; stabs of breakbeat and more of the stunning vocal sample work, seen across the whole EP, all of which swirls together into a forward-lurch with the synth and bass, being pushed forward with full-force kicks.

Today marks 1 year since we posted our first guest mix. Big love to @arfasounds for taking the time and launching this platform with us 12 months ago 💜

To switch it up a little from the usual, we’re moving away from our recent UKG mixes this week to bring a wild genre mashup from the man like @nova_cheq 🔥 

Nova Cheq has come through with a heavy 100 - 130 mix that moves through multiple sonics and levels of energy. The selections move from industrial to grime, to dancehall and funky. Plus with a few wild cards throw into the bag, this one is unlike anything we’ve dropped before. As always with SOLITUDE mixes, there’s a few unreleased tunes here. This time from @djspit.to’s label @rascals_030. Expect these tracks to get pressed with @hardwax_official as well. Mark of quality each and every time. 

He’s an artist who resides in the more hardcore side of the scene, capable of brewing up proper party fuel. Legit his sets are always fuckin wild. Not often for the faint hearted, his music transcends most style brackets and is often a representation of his musical influences over the years, with nods to the original 90’s rave scene, jungle, breaks and techno.

Deffo check his release that just dropped on @sherelle_ & @naina_ldn’s label @hooversoundrec. It’s a combined force with @samurai_breaks. Five outrageously good pieces of work referred to as “Pure Party Fuel, Ghetto House Styled Jungle-Juke Pounders” - these one will smash up the dance 100% 

He’s also had a solo release on Hoover Sound that dropped in May last year. Absolutely worth checking, 5 more stompers with the title track FUK.GOV.UK doing what it says on the tin in hard dance party music format 🔥
